Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 21st January 2014]

Great win for us. ManU got a footballing lesson and they looked like a collection of directionless individuals. The rot really has set in.

Just saw this :D

ManU were the better team first half and I've seen them play a lot worse there, Rooney and/or RVP you think they'd actually have some sort of lead at half time with a bit of luck, can't comment second half until about five minutes before United's goal but 30 minutes certainly wouldn't be anything resembling a football lesson or even a dominant performance.

I hold the same opinion of our fans who sing about munich etc. I'm not sure there is much else to describe those ***** with, unfortunately it seems to be quite a lot of people for certain fan bases

Yes, they're all clowns. I think it's safe to say that most people on here would agree. I'm not sure why we're having to discuss it now though.

Gotta say, some of the comments from people in this section is just a stark reminder that this is OCUK. Cosimo claiming a footballing lesson, I mean really, how clueless can you get? Im all for rose tinted glasses after a nice win but come on?

Today, we started well. But as with a lot of games this season we haven't been clinical enough and we have made too many mistakes that cost us.

Do I blame Moyes? Not really. I dont like that he made radical changes to the backroom staff coinciding with David Gill leaving to a relatively inexperience new chief exec.

He obviously wasn't helped in the summer window but they are mistakes that due to radical changes have to be expected.

I think what us United fans need to remember is that we have been at the very top of football in Europe for nigh on 20 years, which is a tremendous acheivement and this year or more of transition was always going to happen. It makes it easy for Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool fans etc to get stuck in with the abuse but lets be honest, we have given them enough over the years?

All I will say though is, dont think this is something that will last; Manchester United is too big an institution to fall from grace for too long.

You weren't at the game then?

That is an incredibly blinkered view, to say the least. For a home game your team looked fairly poor, if we had our two best players on I think we'd have done some damage to you. We'd have probably still conceded but could have won or at least got a draw.

Sadly true. To a degree we need to drop our superiority complex with regards to things like trying to define what is value in the market, agents fees, giving people time etc. There's a balance to be struck, but a lot of our problems have been born of a certain arrogance.

Said it before (and got shouted down by all but one ManU fan, apologies can't remember who) and I'll say it again, he should never, NEVER have removed the back room staff as quick as he did.

I have nothing against Motes or ManU but I will chuckle at a downfall that has been brought on by themselves a combination of Moyes arrogance (in thinking he can change it all) Fergies blindness (in thinking Moyes was ready) the boards blindness (in allowing the back room staff and Gill to leave) most the only people not blinded are the fans.

Shane but it will be an interesting to watch how many ManU fans are still around after 4-5 years of no success :p We've already have Tom and a few others on here MIA :p

I've never seen anyone anywhere agree with Moyes changing the staff!

We beat United 3-1 without even getting out of first gear; after we went 2-0 up we didn't even look bothered. United's goal only came about as we just turned off; thinking the game was well and truly won.

We didn't allow Gill to leave, he was retiring, I we supposed to force him to stay!

With regards to Tom, he doesn't post here anymore due to getting into petty arguments with the same people all of the time. He had enough basically from what I could see.

You say that but you've looked like that quite often this season, not much good blaming 'gears'. I'd hardly call playing like an away side at home a footballing lesson, or anything even remotely close to one.

After Chelsea went 2-0 Mourinho was trying to close the game off. Seemed pretty bothered enough to throw two holding midfielders on.

It is bewildering isn't it.

Maybe he is not used to doing business with bigger clubs like Barca or Real Madrid, so felt that a low ball offer for a quality player, would suffice?

Oh come on, even in all the dealings he said there were people working on it. He gave the targets to the club and they sent people to deal with the money. He didn't come up with the figures, the new man was clearly trying to make a name for himself by getting a player cheap. Insultingly cheap.

Do you really think Manu let the manager a new one at that dictate the transfer fees they should be offering?

I've never seen anyone anywhere agree with Moyes changing the staff!

Do we even know they wanted to stay? It's just become another thing to cling to, like omg he works the players too hard in pre-season. Even though we had a great start at Everton last season and wayne rooney with his balsa wood metatarsals has been fine ;) Hell no RVP has had another poor season fitness wise and it's moyes fault. The same player everyone predicted would be injured all the time when he signed from Arsenal.

I'm actually hoping Moyes goes soon now, so we can find this world class manager to turn it all around and we can stop hearing about back room staff being changed like it's this new concept when a manager comes in.

I highly doubt even Mourinho could get anything out of that shower of a back four.

I stand corrected re Gill and Tom, my apologies :)

Re the Moyes thing Robbo I'll try and dig it out sometime but I got shouted down at the time(early season) but to he fair I probably won't be bothered to look :p

Ah, Suarez controversy and MotD2 bring out the gimp.

Edit: Oscar the best tackler in the league?

Edit: Schmeichel nailed him shut with a little tap on the head
