Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 23rd October 2019]

Dont cheat when we beat Arsenal every season ;)

Genuinely...concerned about Pepe? His stats last season were massively padded by pens but he looks like a poor mans Iwobi...

Disappointed rather than concerned, with the price tag I think people were expecting him to instantly produce. He's still somehow created the most chances for us and everything we've had going forward today has gone through him. Hopefully he just needs to adjust to life here and get up to speed with everything before he comes good. I am enjoying the Arsenal rage and Gervinho comparisons on twitter though :D

Pepe is quick...and, well that's about it, it seems

Fast, good dribbler, can beat a man, good footwork, just doesn't have the confidence to convert chances at the moment.

The only concern I have about him is his play off the ball, seems to just sulk when he looses it and he's lost his man multiple times when we're defending.

If you wanted a bumbling idiot you could have just flunked 70m on Zaha!

Also, Gervinho was good when he went to Serie A, maybe it's Arsenal's coaching..

The craziest thing about all this is Arsenal will probably make top 4.
Take out Liverpool and City and this is the worst the rest of the league have looked for a long time! Golden chance for a Leicester or someone to get in the top 4 as United, Arsenal and Spurs are trash.

Get that greasy **** out now. He’s an absolute turd. Taking us backwards. Looked totally clueless tonight.

I would actually take Arsene back now.

Yeah his days are numbered, if he can't get us playing decent football when Bellerin and Tierny are starting then he won't make it until next season.

Given the personnel involved I'd say we've arguably gone backwards. We were tactically naive under Wenger and got punished and humiliated for it, under Unai we're just stale. We'll be full strength going into the winter run of games, I'll judge him after a few weeks with everyone fit.

I'd take Mourinho honestly

Never, under any circumstance should that man be in charge of us.

Emery’s just as tactically naive as Wenger ever was.

I was thinking about this towards the end of last season when Utd, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea were having a competition between themselves as to who could throw a CL spot away the best. Are 3rd to 6th noticeably worse than before or are 7th-20th better than ever before and have how good City and Liverpool been made things look worse? It's probably a bit of everything to be fair. It might not have been the same sides as now but we've seen 1 or 2 of the big 5-6 sides have disaster seasons before and Arsenal spent a good 10 years just making up the top 4 spots without ever seriously challenging so things aren't that much different in that respect. I don't think 7th to 20th have ever been stronger than they are now though - I certainly can't recall a time where there's been so many players at these sorts of clubs that could walk into the squad of a top side and not look out of place. Throw in Liverpool and City stringing together huge winning streaks and picking up huge points totals and it does make bad viewing for the likes of Arsenal right now.
