Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 2nd September 2012]

Absolutely gutted by that, biggest mistake was Rodriguez on the left, doesn't work! Especially when he's basically lambert 2.0 :(

United need to sort out their rvp chant, appealing nonsense!

Very pleased with ward-prouse in the middle, for 17 he was real class.

Pains me to think it but united do get some favours off the ref, the Pen was an amazing tackle, rafael should have been off for the fox tackle and evra needed a booking for diving...

Scholes was their best player by a mile, no idea why he didn't start

lol do you really call that an amazing tackle?

It was a tackle from behind, regardless of getting the ball it's still not allowed.

Atkins cost you today.

I thought the defender could have been off for the penalty, tackle from behind is a red card is it not?

Shockingly bad today, from the boss and the players. To drop DDG was crazy (not that it really proved key). But we are just so easy to play against, so much space. I think SAF needs to accept a couple of things: If you won't bring in some decent CM's, you need to pack the midfield each game with 3 from Anderson/Scholes/Cleverly/Carrick, Kagawa off the striker is a luxury we can't afford at present and if you're going to drop players based on one mistake (nani/Rafael/DDG) then you need to be prepared to drop your favorites too. Valencia has been average for each game imo and Nani should be playing on the right with perhaps Kag playing left side.
What's starting to annoy me most is the almost Arsenal level way that problems just keep going on without being addressed/

Sorry fella, I was cheering for Southampton all the way, but there is no way on this earth that could be called an "amazing tackle". Anything other than a penalty from that would have been ridiculous!

Perfect challenge?! Really?!?! It's irrelevant whether you win the ball or not when you tackle from behind, he slid through the player to get the ball and you cannot do that. Hooiveld has now given away two penalties in three games and will continue to do so with such rash challenges.

United were awful today; I've not been impressed with the form we've shown so far this season but the defending was particularly poor today. If it weren't for RvP and some pretty silly subs by Adkins, we wouldn't have got more than a draw out of today's game.

The amount of times Valencia passes the ball in behind the intended target, or delays the cross those vital seconds, is incredible.

As united fans we are spoilt because we had Beckham who would take one touch and the ball in the ball in the box, no messing about, he would just whip it into the mixer.
Valencia mucks around and delays so much and so often, its very frustrating.

People can complain about Nani as much as they like, but more often than not he drives into the box and drives a ball across the face and people know its going to come and its very difficult for a defender to deal with.

Yeah Valencia wasn't great today, as he had an easy target he should have been more effective. He was lucky to get an assist because the defender slipped.

Man Utd's penalty was a cert. Only an off-his-trolley Southampton fan would argue otherwise(:p)....but regardless of ref consistency etc, I think a yellow and a pen is a fair outcome for that.

How do you lose 3 points in 5 minutes?

Adkins Diet.

Pretty much what I was thinking...that was absolutely woeful from Southampton defensively though...they could have walked away with at least a point had they defended RVP properly.

A very lucky 3 pts for Utd today though, could have easily lost today.
