Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 4th December 2017]

And you think seeing his teammate fouled would cause Pogba to intentionally stamp on someone? Has he ever done it before? We were winning and he hardly looked angry. His reaction was not the reaction of someone who was trying to hurt someone.
Not that I believe it wasn't intentional for one moment, it doesn't matter if it was an accident anyway. It's clearly a dangerous challenge even if it was a pure accident. Whichever way you want to look at it, it's a red card.

Quite possibly, Bellerins challenge looked quite bad too. I just can't buy that he's completely accidentally managed to land on his left knee and his right ankle in one challenge all as part of his natural running stride.

Mourinho: "I leave for you the Arsenal players on the grass. The grass is absolutely beautiful - I think there is a desire to go onto the grass.” :D

So why is Koscielny heading Matic in the head not a red card? Seems pretty dangerous to me.

But he doesn't go in with his studs, he's just running, you have to lift your leg to run. If Bellerin is standing up then there isn't even a foul. It's only because he lays his leg on the ground that there's any contact at all. It's a simple accident like a clash of heads.

His last stride is completely different, its clear as day.

Come on Shami, let's not play stupid. You can attempt to make a header and just be unfortunate and clash heads - he's not tried to win the ball in a dangerous way. You cannot lunge into a challenge as Pogba done and do so safely.

Pogba went into his challenge with excessive force, Koscielny didn't.

Bellerin went into the Ashley young challenge with unnecessary force and didn't get the ball.

what about bellerin on young?

edit: beaten too it

Good win but that's us screwed for the City game, Pogba is an idiot for getting sent off. Whether it was intentional or not doesn't really matter, it was a reckless and dangerous challenge and he had to be sent off.

Oh look Baz resorting to personal insults again in a discussion, what a shock. How is heading someone in the head not excessive force? The way I see it the two challenges are almost identical, neither involved any intent other than to get the ball and both resulted in a painful collision.

Again, I don't believe for a minute that there was no intent from Pogba but let's pretend for arguments sake. The difference between the two is clear - you can do what Koscielny did safely, it just so happened that this time it resulted in a clash of heads but it was unfortunate rather than a likely outcome as a result of the type of challenge. As soon as you lunge into a challenge with a straight leg, studs showing, going down onto the opposition player, you're risking injuring the opponent - you cannot challenge like that safely.

One challenge used excessive force and was likely to put the opponent at risk of being injured, the other didn't.

I can’t fathom why people think Pogba shouldn’t have been sent off  that was an unbelievably reckless and dangerous tackle he made.

Utd fans just seething because he’s gone and got himself banned for the Manchester derby:p.

Anyhow really didn’t think we would get a result, last few games have flattered us. And tonight we got shown up properly tonight defensively.

Meh can’t even summon up any anger after tonight’s game.

If Bellerin doesn't lie his leg down there isn't even contact. How can it possibly be reckless and dangerous if that's the case? It was simply Bellerin's unnatural reaction, that caused any contact. It's accidental contact, no different to a clash of heads.

He didn't make a tackle. He has the ball at all times.
