It's a weird season, how many times this year have City got a draw or win in the last few minutes? It seems like they could be 20 points behind by now as well. Last year I loved watching them, this year Mancini seems to have sucked the life out of them. The top 4 are all pretty dreadful this year. A poor standard of football this year for me anyway.
As I said when we last won the league and people were moaning if we're that bad what does it say about the rest of the league? Unless people think we're top due to nothing but luck I cant understand this mentality that it's ok to criticise the team a the top but not say a word about those below them
A point on City last season as well, people may feel they were deserving winners of the league last season but the margin they won the title by in the end was goal difference, so even if you (plural) were impressed by the style of their football it still wasn't enough for them to pull clear of everyone else.
Robbo said earlier that our attackers have saved us and our midfield has been lacklustre, on one hand he's right about the attackers but then on the other had the attackers been more clinical we would have been 2 or 3 up at half time today and not relying on a late goal and then hanging on (the exact same applies to a few other games this season as well). As for the midfield personally I feel it's been anything but lacklustre, like I said a few weeks ago the current midfield pairing of Carrick and Cleverley is the best I think we've had since 2006.
At the risk of repeating myself like I said the other day there's still plenty more to click for us, for years we've relied upon the likes of Ronaldo, then Valencia, then Nani, then Valencia again to create most of our chances, this season we've pretty much been without contribution from any those players*. When you completely remove the main source of creativity from a side most teams would then struggle massively and yet we've still managed to score 61 goals, obviously I don't necessarily expect other supporters to notice this kind of thing because they probably see Valencia in the team sheet on MOTD on a Saturday night and think everything's rosy. Something else to look at is how quite RVP has been the last couple of games which fortunately for us has coincided at a time Rooney's come back from injury and started scoring himself. If between now and May we can lineup consistently with Vidic in the defence, Carrick and Cleverley in centre midfield, Kagawa on the left, Nani on the right, Rooney & RVP up front I'm pretty confident that we'll start pleasing a lot more people with some pretty comprehensive score lines, all that is a big
if though
*yes I'm aware Ronaldo no longer plays for us
