Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2 - 3rd February 2013]

RVP's gone pretty quite since Rooney's came back into the team, good luck opposition should we get the pair of them firing at the same time

Great save by DDG from that Ruiz shot

Has there been a season in recent years where the title winning side have scraped their way to so many wins? If you didn't watch Utd play and just looked at the table you'd think this was an incredible side cruising their way through the season but it seems like they've made hard work of 90% of their games.

I fully expect Tiote to walk back into the team once he is back from ACN. Perch is doing an ok job, but I agree he is not PL standard.

From what I remember him and Williamson are not even Championship quality they could even get into N.Forest and portsmouth. Think we only got them on cheap wages to help with the club new structure

This is why it's so hard telling people we're not playing that well. We're doing just enough in about 60-70% of our games. The margin of victory is so narrow, it's stressful :p

Percherino is a decent enough player, does a solid enough job when called on.

Williamson I agree though, complete garbage. On the plus side the fact that Williamson plays PL football helps keep alive my dream that I might one day as well :p

we would be watching la liga if they didn't

Yes, it's quite frustrating. Our quality in the final third has saved us time and time again, thankfully it's really rather top notch, where as the midfield are often a bit lackluster, as are the defence.

The second half performance against Southampton was absolutely horrendous, we could have lost the game there but held on.

Today, right at the end it was dreadful as well (and for much of the second half), they could have scored at least two or three goals. Our goal came out of relatively nothing, and thankfully Rooney applied a really fantastic finish.

You better win tomorrow! ;)

Wish you'd of warned me that there was so much bitterness in that post before I read it ;)

I really really REALLY hope we give City an absolute battering tomorrow! Probably won't happen, but will be happy with 0-1 win with Sturridge scoring in the 95th minute :D

Utd make it difficult for themselves most of the time

I dont know which is more frustrating;

A performance which is absolutely dominant but only 1 goal goes in

or

An "off" performance where your team are the lucky winners by the single goal scored

The last battering (from a scoreline pov) I can recall off the top of my head was vs Roma in Nov 09 ending 7-1 - even Alan Smith was able to score, thats how incredible a game it was :D

(edit - of course there was the Arsenal game early last season too)

Tom youre more bitter about Liverpool than any pool fan on united and we are ****ing rubbish

Frank you scored 5 goals or more in 4/5 games last year in the league, pretty sure you battered plenty of teams

Peter Odemwingie, attempting to sign for Fulham tonight:

The way City are playing at the moment I think Liverpool have a very good chance of beating them tomorrow if Skrtel and Agger are up for defending properly, and Suarez and Sturridge are up for it.
