That's the last of our real hard games. We now face most of the teams around us at home as well as the relegation candidates home and away so we really need a proper run of results to start climbing the table. I think that's possible given the way we've been playing, just need another Norwich type result to get the confidence back.
/Yawn (that said people seem to be making excuses for pepe a lot recently don't they).I await the scapegoat brigade to sell him after some great work today
some very good positives from the last 2 games I think, defense looks very ropey though and Downing whilst giving the team balance just doesn't do enough in the 'Kuyt role' or present any goal threat.

Realistically the 6 teams ahead of us are currently better so the main aim for the rest of the season has got to be keeping hold of 7th and closing the gap to 6th place. Maybe fight for 6th place if we put a run together. Before the games against Utd, Arsenal and City, I was worried I that we would be 12+ points off 4th. After our performances today and in midweek, it's frustrating to be 9 points off. If we can sure things up at the back, with the way we're looking going forward, we're more than capable of putting a decent run together and closing that gap.
Just like in midweek, hugely frustrating result. We were much the better side throughout the game but just seem to find ways to throw these games away. I much preferred the way we set-up today with Suarez central and Henderson on the left, and Sturridge was hugely impressive too; held up the ball, brought players into the game and took his goal very well.
Regarding their 2nd goal; it's something Reina does a lot - force the striker out wide then drops back into goal - and it usually works. Aguero was probably heading wide enough to not need to today but ultimately it's a freak finish that's cost us.

Seriously how many howlers does Reina have to make before he gets the character assassination that De Gea has to deal with?

He gets it from our supporters, except that wasnt a howler was just extremely disaplointing as he'd never do that again (kun).
Considering your defense of De Gea's mistakes vs Spurs and Southampton, it's a bit rich for you to call it a howler today.
Can't disagree with any of that but the start to our season makes progression up the league now we're 7th far harder now.Such a pessimist. Barring the odd game our performances throughout the season have been better than our results have suggested. Prior to January our problem was that as a side we were unbalanced; we played well but didn't have the players in the final third to score the goals that our play deserved.
We've made individual mistakes at the back at times but as a side we look far more complete with Sturridge and if we can cut those mistakes out, we should rather than could go on a decent run until the end of the season.
See what I mean Purdy?
What De Gea did against Spurs wasn't a howler (in fact DDG has never had a howler in the 1 and a bit seasons he's been at the club) and yet that didn't stop everyone talking about it for weeks. If De Gea did what Reina did today we'd be in for another weeks worth of vilification
See what I mean Purdy?
Could a gentlemen answer if sturridge dived
DID STURRIDGE DIVE?
