Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20 - 26th December 2013]

Officials ruined that game. Liverpool the better side and poor decisions cost them. First half was end to end stuff but second was more of an edgy game of chess.

Still plenty of games to go but the real mental test is for the players now. Can they rise to the challenge of Chelsea?

Brendan Rodgers says match officials were "horrendous". Expresses surprise that "a referee from Greater Manchester" (Lee Mason is from Bolton) was in charge.

''For Liverpool against Manchester City I don't think we would get an official from the Wirral.''

"The three officials were poor across the board today. Sterling offside decision was incredible.''

Don't be surprised if he gets fined, if not a touchline ban for that.
Chelsea won't be as high tempo. Mourinho has them jogging again.

If we're to maintain our good performance levels we need to play at a high tempo though.

edit: Ramires being suspended helps though. The rest of their midfield options are very pedestrian.

He will get fined, even though 99.99% of the country agree with him.

It's going to be hard to be unbiased as a referee when angering one particular set of fans could potentially negatively impact on your daily life. ie. brick through window, child bullied at school, car smashed in.

Well I didn't expect a win, but we deserved at least a draw I was very happy with our performance. Last 2 games vs city it was our own players who cost us points from an error but we cannot say that's the only reason we again missed golden chances. As others have said we can't moan about not getting penalties from shirt pulls when skrtel could have given 2 away. Linesman decision a joke but oh well. We play like that and I'm very confident vs Chelsea at weekend

Giroud plays terribly but no doubt he will score against us at the weekend :(

But on a serious note, i dont know why Podolski didnt get the nod from the beginning after Giroud didnt play too well on monday. Think thats where they need to improve on in January
