Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 21st September 2014]

Everton beat Wolfsburg and then lose to Palace! should be a interesting MOTD tonight..
they have been poor defensively this season, which is not like them.

I can accept mourinho's tactics when we're 11 vs 11 away from home against our main rival. But I am absolutely livid at the way we played after going 1-0 up against 10 men, shocking display.

It had to be lamps :( Doing what he does best, getting in the box and scoring. I'd rather we had kept him and not re-signed drogba but such is life.

I was pretty sure that the only potential reason for Chelsea to not win the title was Mourinho's attitude in such games. Okay, he could have lost and stopped City getting 2 points more but, meh. You're riding your luck assuming you can draw all the big games, it worked out relatively well for them last year but obviously not well enough.

When Chelsea went forward Costa was completely isolated, the number of times he went to wide to pick up a long ball and absolutely no one even attempted to get in the box let alone 2 or 3 players. It was just, you hold it up the pitch as long as you can, we'll get ready to defend. Made for a boring game, Chelsea may have conceded a few but they were capable of scoring a few as well and makes for better football and ultimately fans are paying for entertainment.

Shame the race was on at the same time as the Utd game, I got the gist and saw the goals but didn't see much of the general play. Did see the ridiculous penalty decision that seemed to turn the game around though.

Genuine question. If Utd average the last 5 results in the next 5 games. WIll you stand by Van Gaal?

I will, yes. Not sure how many others will though.

At least LvG can see where the team are failing. Moyes used to just shrug his shoulders and say that he thought we played well. There is a plan now, he's willing to change formation, he's not settling for poor results and the players seem to like his tactics, going forward at least. Only dodgy thing I think is the fact that he made Rooney captain, I guess that's more to do with how long he's been at the club and his work rate.

Sure, we're leaking goals like no tomorrow but as soon as we sort that out we're going to be a pretty decent team. Really impressed with Blind, he's not grabbed as many headlines as the other signings but he's just what we needed.

Also the commentators always harp on about losing Rio and Vidic but to be honest both of them are well past it. Rio showed as such in the QPR match and I'm sure Vidic conceded a penalty in his first match for Milan. From what I remember both were pretty poor last season and slow too.

LVG has the experience to turn this around, Moyes was in new territory and had no clue.

At least right now United knows their own weaknesses and what needs to be addressed.

Really? Everyone and their mum can see you defence and midfield is **** weak yet your summer transfers were all offensive. He had 7 days to prepare the team and you concede 5 (five).....

U spend nigh on 3 months playing a 3-5-2 but at the first sign of trouble u go to 4 at the back. I'd be worried if I was a man u fan.
