Another ridiculous game in a ridiculous season. How we didn't score 5 let alone 1 today I'll never know. If we could score, we'd be a very good team. Hopefully that's rectified in the summer.

I agree with that, which is why I'm not (yet) calling for Kenny's head. We're creating chances, and have defended well until recently. If we had even an average finisher, we would be doing much better than we are. Instead, none of our players can finish, and we're struggling to be in the top 10.

At least it's going to be difficult for the statement "next season will be better" to be wrong for a change!

It wasn't a tackle though, it was an interception - he was cutting out the pass towards Ramires. A tackle implies that the player had the ball under control.

That doesn't matter, had Kalou not jumped out of the way, well i can imagine either a massive leg break or studs impaling his skin.

Red card tackle or not.

Regarding ourselves, Am i the only one that thinks if we win the FA Cup our shocking league form will be over looked? Dalglish "It’s not been one of those days, it’s been like that 7 or 8 times here" well you should have got some players in januray when it all started to loook very bad and got a striker who can finish!!

I'm now numb to the Liverpool slide. The results are just dismal. Even if the players truly are as **** as many suspect they'd still be considered underperforming in a bottom three team.

However, for me there still reamins something quite positive about the performances. It's inconsistent, sometimes clueless but you just feel if we could convert even a small percentage of chances into goals we's be 15-20 points better off. Today's game summed up the season well. 16 shots off, 6 shots on, 63% possession, 15 corners, 0 goals. These stats are repeated game after game.

You don't need your coaching badge to see where the problems lay. I'm not going to criticise Carroll because he's not responsible for the price tag and I think he could be a good if not great player. But £35m is proven, consistent 20+ goal a season money and we could have had that and change. Why take such a reckless gamble.

This is also an interesting read and shows why players and managers should be given time. Lucas could have been out of Liverpool several times and he's now our sstrogest midfielder bar SG.

That's quite funny, he has more goals per shot than Rooney or RVP..... stats don't tell the whole story.... but add a few more stats and take off the Rooney tinted glasses, and he's one of the best finishers in the country.

Daft fans see a striker miss a few "sitters" and suddenly proclaim them poor finishers like the best strikers in the world never ever miss a chance.

Firstly, there's no need for what are essentially personal insults that are just delivered in an indirect way. It's not big or clever.

Anyway, that's not the point I was making and it's nothing to do with Rooney or van Persie (neither of whom I mentioned). Aside from his misses, Aguero wastes an inordinate amount of chances by overplaying in the box and not getting his shot away, which obviously isn't accounted for by any stats. He's an excellent instinctive finisher but poor when he has too much time - I could say the same about both Rooney and van Persie though.

It goes without saying that I think Aguero is a very good player, though that's not to say there isn't room for improvement.

I also hope QPR go down, the only reason they went up last season was because the F.A didn't have the balls to stick to one of their own laws.. It would also be very funny as they have spent far more on wages and transfers than Swansea and Norwich combined yet they are the only one of the promoted teams that is in the relegation battle.. And they have Adel "ridiculously over-rated" Tarrabt who has done **** all this season..

Firstly, I believe it was Sturridge who jumped out of the way, not Kalou. And secondly, it would have been a red card if the Chelsea player had the desire to go after the ball, he didn't and therefore he got nothing. You could say a lot of challenges deserve a red card, but if the attacker isn't willing to get stuck in and take the challenge, they are never going to get free kicks/penalties.

I can see Man Utd relying on Newcastle to get a point off City at the very least, and this still relies on Man Utd winning vs Sunderland on the last day (which isnt a given by any means)
That relies on Chelsea /Spurs to get back into the fight for 4th (because otherwise Newcastle may not have anything much to fight for by then)

It's a red if you either mistime a tackle and connect with somebody, or if you intend to connect with somebody maliciously. Koscielny's was neither malicious nor mistimed.
