Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd October 2016]

Not even close. You don't have to hate Chelsea to realise their fans are awful.

Nearly all home fans are awful. Do you attend many football games?

Chelsea are dreadful every time I've been at SB unless it's against the top 3 / a CL knockout game.

Away? Good every time.

Like I said earlier, Mourinho will be looking to sort your defence out in January. I couldn't believe he didn't bring a proper DM in and an out and out defensive fullback in the summer, I can't see him not doing it in January.

but we have a defensive midfielder in Schneiderlin, there is absolutely no need to be playing Fellaini or Lingard or starting Rashford. Full backs-wise, we're fine with Shaw at left back and Valencia has been one of our best players this year; I would argue they are definitely not the problem.

Utd were dire throughout, Mourinho is dire. Mourinho doesn't seem to understand that the team needs offensive cohesion and that pushing them deeper doesn't help. When you teach players that to get a result they have to drop into a back 5-6 and park the bus that is how they will play in other games too. When you train a certain way and tell them this way is the way forward, the team adapts to that. If you teach them to defend with 6-7 players, don't expect them to defend well with a few players less in the next game.

How often were Rashford and Lingard all the way back with Blind and Valencia even narrower than them? How is the attacking midfield or striker going to work with zero wide players and half the offence too deep?

Said it before he joined, when he joined and now, they needed to pick a manager to build on LVG's defence and bring a fluid attacking style to the offence/team. Instead they brought in a guy who has made a living using the best squad in a given league already with a cracking offence, made the team more defensive which in the short term solidified them but the only slightly longer term made them too defensive and broke the offence. Starting with that Utd side and with a guy who already put the defensive foundation in but hadn't fixed the offence he was just about the worst possible choice to take over.

Besides his style which is terrible, how Mourinho continues to give the like of Fellaini games I have no clue, drop one useless slow waste of space in midfield but play another one? Where was Shaw, Young(who despite people under rating him is constantly very effective for Utd both defensively and offensively), Bastian and Morgan.

It's actually dumb because both Barca and Bayern made the blueprint for Utd, LVG comes in and fixes some based problems with the club, sorts half the team out, buys/brings through some solid youngsters giving a good base for an attacking manager to come in and bring the attacking flair LVG can't instil in a team... so rather than use the Barca or Bayern blueprint... they went 100% in the wrong direction in terms of follow up manager to LVG.

Jose said.

1-0, not for 4-0
humiliation no(...)

Said in relation to Conte celebrations I believe? Jose is just a bad loser. It's ok when he does it but never the other way round :p

+1

Pretty much, it's the same at Elland Road. Our away fans are different class though, I much prefer going to away games. :)

Schneiderlin isn't really a DM. He's more defensive than offensive but he's a box to box player. Mourinho's typically played with an out and out defensive midfielder that sits in front of the back 4.

As for your fullbacks, it's not so much their quality (although I don't really rate any of them) but the type of fullbacks. Mourinho doesn't pick fullbacks for the attacking quality or what they offer with the ball - his fullbacks are there to defend. Ivanovic and Azpilicueta (particularly at LB) is what Mourinho likes - both naturally defensive fullbacks that cover their CB's before they look to attack.

Yup. According to @filippomricci, Jose Mourinho said: "Don't do that at 4-0. 1-0 ok, but 4-0 is humiliation."

I hope that's true. The man that shakes hands and walks down the tunnel before the final whistle is giving other managers advise on how to conduct themself.
