Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 24th August 2015]

the man u Newcastle game was a weird one. The toon were overrun within the first 20 minutes, but I felt they held their own for a good 50 minutes within the centre of the game, before reverting back to the Alamo.

As a toon fan, I was chuffed with the result, and also the defensive display, however Man U should have won the game if they had anyone who was of the "ronaldo, van persie" mould of sticking the ball in the back of the net. Hernandez seems this sort of player, Rooney is not an out an out striker.

I'm really surprised by Spurs form - I had them pegged for big things this year but as yet they've just not got started.

Why? Their performances last season left a lot to be desired - they seemed to always be nicking points late on and relied heavily on 1 player to score them the goals that got them the points they did. And they've seemingly made little to no improvements over the summer.

By the way, why did Haidara get a yellow card for trying to score? Also has there ever been a game where Januzaj has started and hasn't dived at least once?

Great result for Bournemouth. Spurs still treading water - not sure what's happening to them.

More of the big guns playing tomorrow and Monday. Spurs could almost be in the bottom 3 come Sunday night (or even Chelsea!). :p
