Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 24th Jan 2012]

tbh I don't see where Carroll fits in at Liverpool when everyone's fit, obviously where Captain Starfish is concerned fitness isn't always guaranteed but lets say for arguments sake he does stay fit he's not going to play centrally in part of a 2 (he hasn't done that for years) so surely it'll be him playing behind Saurez and given Carroll is obviously very much a confidence player I can't see Liverpool ever getting the best out of him if he's only going to get starts in every say 1 in 5.

Problem is Carroll's value is only going to drop and drop the longer he's out of form and out of the team so even if it's premature maybe selling this summer would be the best move for all concerned.

i agree, most liverpool fans would agree, most wouldn't admit it

How much could we get for him in the summer? How much more could his value drop if he was kept around, even if he just sat on the bench? How much more could he be worth above this summers value (both in football and financial terms) if he comes good?

The answer to those questions are, not a lot, very little and a lot.

Unless we got a big offer, it makes no sense to sell him now and very little sense to sell him in the summer.

a lot? carroll will never be worth more than £35m, he wasn't worth £35m in the first place

the clock is ticking, money vs saving face

I took it as read that Liverpool would stuff Bolton today, in fact with our form I hoped so to give us some breathing space from the bottom 3. Sadly not.

King Kennys return is like King Kevins return. I hear fans saying the club needs millions thrown at it to sort this situation out. I'd rather throw the money at hodgson than Kenny. They said when he returned that even though he had been away no one had their finger on the pulse with more than Daglish with player spotting and player knowledge.

Clearly he'd never seen Downing play, Adam was never going to be good enough quality but atleast he wasn't that expensive. Carrolls value is going to be the thing of legends when he ends up at stoke for 5 million. I'm sure they would let Newcastle have him back for 10m if it didn't mean looking totally laughable for Kenny.

He's also practically unsackable and in the coming year or so will cause them even more issues when no one dare say out loud that they made a cluster ****.

It's slightly unfortunate for him though that times have changed and he just will not be able to compete anyway with the funds available.

Try reading what I said again, you clearly couldn't understand the questions.

It's a product of the collective Scouse imagination working overtime.

You don't accept that the media handled the John Terry affair differently to the Suarez affair, even prior to his hearing?

Started by the club because they know they had to back him 100% despite everything or he would use it as a reason to walk. He still might.

A perfect excuse that he can no longer play is this country due to abuse, right before signing for City for £150k per week :D

;)

I do, but only because Chelsea handled the Terry matter far better. The papers have never been afraid to stick the boot into Terry either so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

If Kenny wasn't a Liverpool legend some would be asking he get the boot. Liverpool have been woeful for a couple of months now and ahve spent an awful lot of money on some only slightly better than average players. They used to be a one player team (Gerrard) and from what I've seen, they still are, but it's Suarez this time.

John Henry should be looking for a world class manager in the Summer and should thank Kenny for steadying the ship just when it was required and let him go back to being the clubs ambassador.
