Arsenal would have won that match about 5-1 if RvP had never left and Gervinho was nowhere near the pitch.

I don't think so. We are playing a far different game this season to what we did last. The passing and movement are far better. We no longer try to play everything through RVP.

Gervinho.

To think Arsenal fans were pleased with his signing over Hazzard because he got more goals and assists in his last season in France then Hazzard.

Overrated mainly.

I know stats aren't everything but surely they speak for themselves?

His first season at Man City - 35 apps/4 goals and 9 assists.
Second - 36 apps/ 6 goals and 18 assists.

How can be be "overrated"?

He's a brilliant player and the season is only just starting to get going.

He's a great player against crap sides but he performs rarely in the big games - people will point to the United game last season but that was against 10 knackered men who had forgotten to defend.

I agree with One More Solo, I think Silva is a good player but nothing more.

Sky and other pundits / media out lets make him out to be some sort of demi god of a footballer because he plays well in a few games. It's just the type of footballing media world we live in and the need for 24 hour news.

Silva's world class and one of the best players in his position imo. He managed goals and/or assists against Liverpool, Spurs, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Porto and Bayern last season and that's without mentioning his goals and assists at the Euros :)

Maybe. It happens far too often, pundits take players and decide how they are going to talk about them forever based on a few performances. Take Carzola for example. I think he looks like a very good player, but pundits have seen him make a few great passes and have some nice touches so now everything he does is 'beautiful' and 'sublime'. He made a 10 yard pass to someone straight in front of him earlier that anyone could have made, and someone(forget his name, main commentator) said it was classy! ......they really overdo it with things like that.

(not bashing Carzola btw, very good player)

PS I think Silva is a great player, just looked off so far this season.

I liked when Quinn made the immortal comment 'well nobody knew anything about him before he came to Arsenal' literally (Jamie) **** off Quinn.

I watch football other then the top six in England and knew of his quality, as I'm sure a lot of football fans did across Europe, but because he wasn't at a top six club in England his achievements and ability are down played until the media can start their hype wagon.

Officially in love with Vertonghen. He looked as comfortable at left back as he did at centre-back. Even looked like a decent attacking threat. Wish we had 11 of him. :p

Also; hope that the Bolton fan who threw himself off (ok, he probably slipped, but if I was a Bolton fan I'd consider jumping off something high) the top tier of the away stand is ok :)
