One of the BBC reports mentioned this; said it was a small minority and that it was very brief but was thought to be provoked too and related to the time they were kept behind for.

That's not a defense.

Rumours on twitter that a fan was arrested for airplan gestures but denied by merseyside police. That wasn't a small minority or brief really.

Is that the 'Pool fan' on his twitter?

It was & he might still be a fan even though he's now deleted his account.

Edit: Just out of interest Purdy, how will you react when Liverpool visit Man.U. and the spazzers in the crowd pipe up with Munich chants.
Some ***** will I've no doubt, will you be as disgusted?

Some observations from the United/Liverpool match ( from a United fan):

* United need a new central midfield. We are laughable in this area
* Ferdinand was very good today. Showed his class.
* Suarez is a horrible, cheating scum bag. I must admit he is quite good at football though
* Nani is super pants. Every pass he made was a failure.
* We really do have an incredible nack of playing awfully and still somehow winning.
*I dont think Valencia dived. Johnson clearly made contact. Valencia played for it but Johnson was stupid to attempt a tackle like that there.
* I thought Liverpool actually played some good stuff at times.
* We didnt.

has rodgers had the bullet yet?

I think if LFC stick with him he will do alright. He's young, bright and has a good reputation. Keeping Rodgers can't be any worse than swapping out so many managers like they have.

If he does go then I would pay to have the fat spaniard back just for ***** and giggles.

It's not of course but let's look at it this way - Sky conveniently leave the cameras rolling for ages after the game, all the stands bar the away enclosure are empty and something or someone causes the United fans to sing the offensive song after hours of good behaviour. Is it really beyond the realms of possibility that Sky ask someone to wander over in front of the away fans and get them going?

Surely if the last couple of weeks have taught us anything it's that the media are ruthless ****s who will do anything to get a story.

Again, this does not excuse the fans but something seems odd about it to me.

Typical United performance at Anfield yet again today only difference being this year we got a huge amount of luck, I dont think too many could argue about the red but the penalty was very soft but Valencia should have put his foot through it and scored anyway so maybe Halsey just felt sorry for him for fluffing the chance in the first place :p

What made racism come back into british football again? Was it really suarez mouthing off and the club not coming down hard enough?

It didn't go there just wasn't media hype around it. Its still a minority, it will always be a minority. People are in general stupid and make snap judgements and ill informed decisions, I'm actually fine with people having stupid opinions, think whatever you want, however demented, acting on it or imposing your beliefs on others is inherantly wrong though and we should shame racists and homophobes and anyone else into keeper their mouths shut, which will also have the welcome effect of younger people not being exposed to it and being less likely to go along with the same idea's.

Anyway, it was a good overall performance from Arsenal but, its so hard to judge, City were abysmal in general. Mancini is a complete pratt, he had a team built for 4-4-2 from the ground up, instead of refining the team and improving it, he's tried to rebuild it from the ground up. He had them training 5-3-2 in preseason, but that only has the effect of making you less sharp in 4-4-2. If you can devote 100% of training to plan A it will be as good as it can be, if you put ANY time into plan B, plan A will be less good, they put loads of time into 5-3-2.

The fact that he'd trot it out against maybe the strongest team in the world when its untested, no where near their best formation and no one is nearly practiced enough at it, completely and utterly ridiculous. He's made the team significantly worse, and he bought everyone on the final day of the transfer window(mostly everyone) and threw most of them in at once providing a terrible performance. I have no idea what kind of idiot he is but he's doing shockingly poorly this season. Even when they've won they haven't looked a patch on last season at all.

Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, everyone looks worse than last season, except for Tevez.... who he dropped.

Arsenal though, Gervinho, a crap player can get a few goals and have a good few minutes, but they'll always be crap and more often than not will be crap. He was attrocious today, its just his technique one of his shots the way he shot from the replay it was just embarrassing.

Theo came on and did entirely nothing, one terrible cross, Chamberlain for some speed and power down the wing, we went with Ramsey, who has no pace and so the offence had little support. Podolski had a poor game overall and Santi looks good but as someone said, if you're Spanish and have three good games, or three great passes the pundits won't stop masturbating over every single pass like it was a assist in a world cup final. He wasn't poor today, he wasn't great. We screwed up defensively when it most mattered but looked good most of the game. Again how much was City, no idea.

Jenkinson was ******* magic today though, absolute magic.

Gibbs can't cross to save his ruddy life, and without the blinkers on, the two goals that we got against Southampton were two very poor crosses(well one might have been a poor shot). Jenkinson both is less experienced at the top level, has trained with a top team and top coaches for a FAR shorter amount of time, is already better defensively AND offensively and is showing signs of improving. Gibb's hasn't improved one iota in 4 years, should have bought Baines when Everton were more desperate for the cash and doing less well.

EDIT:- Utd were shocking, Liverpool were good against City, Arsenal and Utd, they just can't score, and that will hurt them all season long, and they are going to get monumentally screwed in Jan for any decent striker. Rodgers screwed up Dempsey and spent 10mil on a guy who looks gash. Hilarious thing is, if Liverpool had a striker last year Downing, Suarez, Carroll, everyone would have ended up assisting more, the team would have done better and the guys who create chances, Downing, Adam and maybe even Hendo wouldn't have been seen as such failures.

Liverpools massive gaping whole in last years team was goal, and its the only thing they made worse in summer...... lol.

Fergie back with his "it's a big game so I'll throw in my big team guys like Park, Giggs", it utterly failed last year, Park might be missing but why draft in the guys who can't perform in the biggest games?

Rafael, hate him but he scores some really nice goals.

After Carragher got away with that tackle on Nani last year I think we can call it even!
