Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 25th November 2014]

Do the Liverpool fans on here think that you spent the Suarez money well in any way shape or form?

I don't think that's been the problem. Lovren is a decent player in poor form and in a poor defence - he needs experience alongside him. Lallana and Can have been two of our better players this season and should be playing more. Lambert at £4m was a good value signing.

The only problems were Balo and Markovic. Markovic has been a total waste of money. I preferred the look of Konoplyanka at the time, and maintain that. Although that said, we ought to have gone after somebody like Fernando or Blind at DM over another winger. Balo was a gamble worth taking and it hasn't come off.

Our starting lineup should be something like:

Mignolet

Manquillo--Toure--Lovren--Moreno

Lallana--Can--Henderson

Coutinho--Sterling

Lambert (Studge when fit!)

But a proper DM would be very helpful.

Isn't Rodgers the second coming of Jesus though?

Oh look, we praise him when he's got it right and been critical of him when he gets it horribly wrong.

People can perform well and also then perform poorly. Actually I assume you're not retarded so your post makes no sense as surely you realise this can happen

Lovrent only looked decent at Southampton because he had 2 powerful dm's in front of him last year - by all acounts he was just as **** for lyon as he is playing for us . We're see ing the true lovren

Every CB we've had under Rodgers has looked **** yet all or most have performed well for other managers.

Rodgers clearly has a problem setting a team up from a defensive point of view. You can ignore that when the result of his system means we're blitzing sides at the other end of the pitch but when we're not, you can't ignore it anymore.

the point was you would expect a title challenge if they had kept suarez and spent 120 million

the point was, rodgers said similar of spurs when we made rash signings with the bale money.

even if spurs had kept bale and signed the players we did, we'd not mount a title challenge as our back 4 is that bad, i expect to hear the benny hill music come through the tannoy everytime one of them is on the ball.

Rogers should have kept his mouth shut.:D

Indeed. ****ing asked for this to happen the clown, keep your mouth shut until you perform, we don't have the luck of being owned by someone who will throw money to fix your mistakes.

You have to question why though, he moved to Southampton from Lyon and very quickly settled, picking up a lot of praise for being the rock in the Southampton defence that saw us maintain such a fantastic defensive record (until we had an injured keeper).

He's not a crap player (or at least hasn't been previously) so what has changed now he's at Liverpool that has turned him into a defensive liability?

The rock and leader in the Saints defense was Fonte, Lovren was error prone and tended to go missing even last year.

He's come out and said we don't need a defensive coach and this stubbornness is hurting us. I don't think bringing in a defensive coach would fix all the problems but there has to be some improvement...

Nick in London: Liverpool are not in meltdown. Things aren't going for them right now. they didn't deserve to lose at Palace, on an unplayable pitch.

What game did this clown watch.

They had more shots, more shots on target and we had at best 1-2 penalty appeals that are pretty unlikely to be given. Skrtel could've easily seen a second yellow for that shirt pull too.

Don't understand why someone that's previously been involved with the club like Clarke can't be brought in to provide the help Rodgers obviously needs. As above, must just be down to stubbornness and wanting to do things his own way but he can't see that's hurting his position as manager and the club.

Carra: "something is wrong... it's not just a bad start... this team shows no fight, no character... mentally and physically weak, no leadership.. I am very worried as a Liverpool fan"

For him to say that, there has to be some serious **** going on behind closed doors.

Id love to a fly on the wall when he and stevie G talk behind closed doors.

Everyone makes the odd mistake but Lovren was playing well enough to get positive comments pretty much every game played, along with picking up the odd random plaudit such as being the fifth highest ranked premier league player in bloombergs power 50.

Hardly the best measure of ability admittedly but you don't get noticed for lists like that if you are actually totally crap and it's all down to your defensive mids and partner cb.

I think Fonte was better than he was given credit for last season but Lovren was by no means a poor player. He certainly wasn't some sort of goal sieve that he seems to be at Liverpool.

Clarke probably wanting to be a manager now instead of a coach? Few coaches would be able to coach this lot to defend with the way we play, I mean I've seen some hilarious suggestions of Pulis, I'd love to see that happen, would add to the comedy.

Would Carra be telling Stevie he's a huge part of the problem?

Stevie looks as just as much of the problem as anyone else, either he can't do it or he's ****ing not arsed after the slip last year.

Not specific to this game, but a yellow for a shirt pull is like 1 in a 100? Its still all too rare

Im (like most people Im sure) all for the FA clamping down on shirt-pulling and defenders "hugging" attackers - but there just seems like there is little interest from higher up to clamp down on these obvious offenses

(while Im at it - players in general obstructing off the ball, and playing the man instead still happens too much, but a lot of refs ignore it)

Maybe he would if he was a true mate, but I also think BR is in serious danger, if it's not already happened, of losing the dressing room, Carra alluded to something big happening and not just players settling in etc. going on.

He was poor at lyon and benched multiple times by 2 different coaches if memory serves, 8 mill bid comes in and they snapped your hands off. He had a decent 1st half to the season and was pretty **** 2nd half. As said above, 2 DM's and a better CB partner made him look 100x better than he is.

I notice Croatia have dropped him to the subs bench now too.
