Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 26th October 2011]

David Silva.

For me there's been one magical man in our league in the last 20 odd years, and while history will be the judge in the end, he's standing on the shoulders of Mr Bergkamp.

The guy was box to box today, just amazing to watch, ball on foot, ball coming of the foot, tenatious challenge, the all seeing eye.

Total player, not seen a performance like that since Zidane in his 2000 prime.

I'd 1-6 to be a Manchester United fan today.

I know it doesn't work, but whatever! :p

Wouldn't be the worst thing for City to not qualify out of their group in the CL, would allow them to keep their squad fit for the prem.

But if any injury "crisis" happens at City, it could all be sorted out by January.

Indeed and thats the scary thing, they could just go and splash another £100mill+ on replacement players....but utterly gobsmacked at how well City just dealt with Utd so easily....makes me feel much better when we got beat 8-2 by Utd earlier this season and now we are up to 7th so things are coming along nicely for us...fingers crossed.

Roberto Mancini is going to deserve some credit for what he's done at City. If Mourinho can get away with winning the league with Claudio Ranieri's leftovers and get fellated as THE BESTEST EVER, then Mancini deserves plaudits for making such a good team out of these "mercenaries".

Beat us fair and square but i have zero respect for a team that has been bought using someones unlimited bank account. That's what really ***** me off to be honest as really they should be a mid table team imo.

Yep, because Manchester United are poor and only use money from their personal savings to fund the team.

I see your point, to an extent, but it's generally what happens. Small team, does well, gets bought and invested in, becomes stronger/contender for the league.

I like competition in the Premier League, otherwise you'd just have La Liga and it's two big financed teams and the rest meandering around for scraps.

Now to take second place.

Chelsea: Petr Cech, Jose Bosingwa, David Luiz, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Raul Meireles, John Mikel Obi, Frank Lampard, Daniel Sturridge, Didier Drogba, Juan Mata

Kidding right, Chelsea did it, UTD have spent, Infact this is silly not one of us like how City have spent but i bet if roles were reserved you wouldnt complain like many others wouldnt either.

What will happen to City in 30 years time might be shafted for money or be perfectly fine if they win stuff etc get more revenue.

Still a long way to go, Man UTD strengths has always been grinding out results consistently all throughout the season against the lesser teams while the others all drop silly points.

lol, Fergie got it all wrong, Hernandez on to try and get back in the game. He's a tap in artist, for me Hernandez and Welbeck will only ever be good when the team is completely on top, when required to hold up the ball and create goals, help take a game back both are useless.

Welbeck did nothing all game, Hernandez did nothing when he came on, Rooney did nothing of note throughout, Nani was similar and Fletcher/Anderson, horrific.

Anderson is simply not a good footballer, people get easily confused as to who was actually good when a team wins, Anderson, alongside a very good Cleverley and when the team is playing well just isn't under pressure, in a game like today, defensive positioning, horrible, going forwards, slow, laboured, useless shooting, slow, rubbish passing.

He should have been sent off aswell, almost a straight red for the foul on Silva, had Silva's foot been planted that was a ankle snapping tackle, he's incredibly lucky his foot was just off the ground. How it wasn't a yellow at the very least I don't know, could easily have been given as a red, and a clear as day penalty/foul on Richards later on, then finally finally got a yellow card for the softest of fouls he commited all day long.

That was a game Utd desparately needed posession upfront later on, and someone to pick out truly world class throughballs and move it quickly when required, how Berbatov wasn't subbed on instead of Hernandez I don't know.

I can understand flooding forward at 3-1 and suddenly thinking they had a chance, but at 4-1, how Utd didn't see out the game with 10 men behind the ball I don't know, thats just schoolboy, shocking and embarassing. Ok, you go 4-1 while trying to get a last minute goal, 5-1 and 6-1, when theres literally no chance of getting back in the game, the only goal is not conceding again, and repeatedly in the final 2 minutes Utd get caught with less men in their own half than City have, no idea what thats about.

Has been out since the star of he season, shoulder operation again.

Haven't seen the game so can't comment on it specifically, we have looked quite poor and lucky for a number of weeks, Liverpool shew that last week too.

Hopefully Clev is back soon and that gives us a but of a kick on, he and Anderson when playing together were driving us forward in the Mid.

ahh i see thanks for clearing that up.

Ferdinand shouldnt of started imo, and put both jones/smalling in the centre, but i spose if he's short at rb that would have been tricky
