Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23 - 25th February 2013]

err...RVP ?

Most teams have stand out players

He hasnt scored for the last.....4 /5 games.....yet Utd have continued to win, so not even close

Well done Spurs - although JJ seemed to play an absolute blinder, but deserved 3 points

2 -5 is still pretty tight, so anything could still happen

So question who's the bigger one man team?

Spurs and Bale
or
Chelsea and Mata

Those two players are pretty much the difference as to why they're 3rd and 4th and why Arsenal are 5th

Lampard and Hazard have scored quite a few goals.

bale is our best player. it would be complete and utter madness to not give him the free role he has and it's paying dividends. it's a team effort, he gets the space and opportunities he does because that's our game plan.

AVB has pushed for this, hence the hug at the end. faith in bale until the final whistle.

Player of the season's going to be tough this year...

Bale
Mata
Michu
RvP
Suarez

:eek:

I was going to do a thread on this but feared current form (Bale) would sway a lot of peoples opinions, I was just checking out how each player compares in regards to goals against the top 8* though;

RVP - 1 v City, 1 v Spurs, 1 v Chelsea, 1 v Arsenal, 1 v Everton, & 2 v Liverpool = 7 goals in total against the top 8
Mata - 1 v Man Utd, 2 v Spurs, 2 v Arsenal = 5 goals in total
Suarez - 1 v City, 1 v Chelsea, 1 v Arsenal, 1 v Everton = 4 goals in total
Bale - 1 v Man Utd, 1 v Arsenal, 1 v Liverpool = 3 goals in total

Basically all are doing it in the big games and not just against the lower sides

*ignoring West Brom

yes. heaven forbid anyone who may (rightfully) be swayed into thinking bale is the best player in the pl

interesting you just choose goals. RVP and suarez are strikers. mata and bale bring a lot more to the game than just goals. bales' assists would be very high if other strikers got on the end of his crosses and he's not a penalty taker.

Echoes of Ronaldo from Bale recently. Just unstoppable.

Whilst he's still not at that class (and seeing Ronaldo against us reaffirmed that for me) you're right his current form is very reminiscent of Ronaldo in 2006 when he was still a winger slowly moving more infield

Spurs last 6 games and Bale's goal return;

1 v Norwich
1 v WBA
2 v Newcastle
2 v Lyon
0 v Lyon
2 v West Ham

And not one of them a tap in by any means, crazy form
