lol,
I really don't get Utd, there are SO many cheap players around who would improve Utd.
Cleverley isn't good enough, Welbeck isn't, Valencia isn't. Larsson, Mulumbu are very decent players, they aren't brilliant, you should in no way want them to be first team at a top 4 club. But they would probably cost £5mil a piece, if that, and offer very solid performances, great back up, and currently much stronger players than you have in midfield. Mulumbu is a really solid DM and isn't bad at passing or pushing the ball forward. Larsson is solid in multiple positions, reliable, again cheap.
These are two guys that you could get for 10mil or less for both and probably for 30k a week and offer some real strength and depth.
I actually think those two would be good but there are some really solid players in loads of teams in this league that would be good enough to add numbers and strength. You could be playing Mulumbu instead of Cleverley, Larsson would do a much better job than Valencia.
Rodwell would I think have been too big a risk, biggish wage likely because of the City move and injury issues.
Utd could have got Mccarthy pretty easily last year, there are loads of good players around that would not cost the earth, not epic, but better than many players Utd have, particularly in terms of discipline/central midfield.
