Which top club would a midfield pairing of fletcher and cleverly break into?

get Herrera back / Carrick and a new CM and it's not so bad anymore considering no CL.

Its not a stellar midfield when everyone is fit. We are currently missing our first choice pair of Herrera and Carrick and its currently bottom half of the table material.

Carrick + Herrera isn't the best, but it'd be a hell of a lot better than this, indeed.

Rooney dropping deep to get a touch of the ball. Apart from when rvp kicked the ball off for a goal kick he's hardly had any influence on the game at all

So many times you see a ball forward that Cleverley or Fletcher could playing into the front men and they don't see it or don't try it. Those are the sort of passes that make the opposition think about what they are doing and pin them back a bit. At the moment Sunderland are so comfortable in most of their half that they don't even defend in real numbers.
