Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

Hes going to anyone who punts £100k a week in his direction - take your pick!

Surprised we didn't find him in Nasri's suitcase to be honest :p

Well here you go, the rumours of Abu Dhabi Utd aka City of trying to bag RVP for £30mill:p

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-City-planning-30m-raid-Robin-van-Persie.html

Mind you its the Daily Fail but still no smoke without fire...i hope that if the rumours are true that RVP sticks 2 fingers up at Mancini and Khaldoon and tells the pair of them to go shove it where the sun dont shine:D.

Oh and rumours are that City are also after Neymar too...£50mill lol

Gotta say Abu Dhabi Utd really are doing their bloody best to buy every single trophy thats available in football...might as well buy the WC too while your at it:p:D

Good those drugs they're handing out at Arsenal aren't they!? :p There is always smoke without fire when football transfers are concerned, this is just an easy story in response to Wenger saying he may have to let go a few more stars.

It's just pure lazy journalism... just because we've sold other youngsters in the past they're just spewing rubbish. Same happened with Rodwell but nothing come about it.

100% record ended, possibly would have been happy with the point but with a better ref we would have won today. 3 very good penalty shouts ignored, couple that with our top two strikers out and a point is probably a good result.

Explicit how can you say Stoke deserved it then say we should have had a few penalties

United fan Wanting Better Refs shocker..................

you do get 95% of your decisions, you cant even deny that.....teams go to old trafford and get blatant penalties, fergie time and the rest of it.

Not unlike Carra not giving away pens (most of time time) at Anfield, or Chelsea getting the decisions at SB - believe it or not it doesnt just happen to Utd (by any stretch)

To me this just shows how important Chicharito and esp Rooney are to Utd (and to a lesser extent how terrible Utd's central midfield is most of the time - Fletcher had an important 1-2 with Nani for his fantastic goal, and Anderson had a couple of decent passes esp late on, but for the most part they were pretty invisible. Utd were lucky Stoke didnt punish them further (which could easily have happened)

Berba was practically invisible too (in the final 3rd) and Owen was nearly as bad

Im still not convinced that Crouch's goal wasnt savable (as suggested on ESPN), yes it was a great delivery, and yes it was a bullet header at close range but it just looked like a bit of a soft goal to concede..... but on a positive note DDG did make a couple of really decent saves as well, and Rio, Evra did well , Jones did very well (even if he was caught out for the goal) and I thought Valencia did pretty well for someone out of position

I have to say I don't rate Hernandez that highly at all, how he starts abov Berbatov when they're both fit makes me a sad panda.

edit: To say De Gea was at fault for the goal is laughable :/

He reminds me of Solskjaer in terms of being in the right place at the right time and also had a decent finish, but individual brilliance? I don't think he's capable of that.. I don't think I've seen him score an individual goal where all the work hasn't been done for him.

/prepares flame suit for lynching.

It's true though, he's a poacher type player, he doesn't offer that much to the team in terms of general play. Can't question his ability in positioning/finishing though, and it's important to have a player like that! Imagine if he did have more to his game, similar to Rooney though .

I would agree. He isn't going to create something individually but he will make crazy runs and you always feel he will score if he gets the chance. There is nothing wrong with that at all. But to be good at getting into those positions regularly and to be that clinical a finisher doesn't just come easy.

I agree, to me he's very similar to Defoe, good finisher, build up play is pretty non existant.

defoe does his share but it is something he needs to work on, however, his holding of the ball with a defender scrambling all over him is pretty top notch. adebayor showed what a stella striker he is with his contribution to vdv's goal at wigan yesterday.
we need another striker but it's looking a lot better than it did last year when it comes to us scoring goals from other places than midfield.
