Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th - 28th August 2011]

Not sure what that is but if it involves people herding together because I "dared" to criticise Man Utd then so be it.

I used to enjoy the days of telling Nokkonwud the error of his ways and at least he was pragmatic enough to back down when he was talking nonsense!

You didn't criticise Utd, I'm a gooner, I have no problem calling Utd players crap(though have not much of a leg to stand on today :( ), but you had a go at Young, and for no reason.

Again you claimed he has become even more arrogant and petulant, all anyone has asked you to do is identify a SINGLE thing he's done since his move to show he's been at all petulant or arrogant, and you won't.

Generally speaking, I'll call Utd dirty cheating scumbags, then point out Rooney dives a lot, so a statement of my opinion and at least some kind of incident/situation/occurance to back up the accusation/point/whatever.

If you hate Young, say "I hate Young".

Search for posts on, Barton, or Diouf or, a dozen other players and theres people saying the same, you don't need to make crap up to have a go at a player, because people will call you on the BS part of it.

As I highlighted, I didn't like Young at all in his "diving" phase, he was a ****, he dramatically reduced his diving from what 18months to a couple years ago and I don't see that as a reason to dislike him anymore.

If someone around here goes "that barton's a ****" no one would disagree. If someone around here said "that Barton's a **** because he's a peadophile", people would ask where the hell the accusation comes from, NOT because Barton isn't a ****, but because no one has heard the ridiculous accusation he's a peadophile and its just nonsense.

So, you hate Young, or he's really arrogant and petulant, 99.999% of this forum can't think of anything he's done to suggest he is either of those things, you keep repeating the claim, so back it up, or shut up about it, one or the other.

I like Barton, although I do feel like im alone on this one! :(

If you look in the transfers thread he has explained himself and quoted his original post he made prior to Young joining Man U.

Unfortunately thats what I was refering to earlier, he's been making this fuss about Young, ever since the transfer was close to going through, claiming he was arrogant and petulant, and has been doing so ever since, and he wouldn't back up his claims then not properly.

However again his comment was VERY specific today, in that Young has reached new levels of arrogance since joining Utd, people asked for any kind of situation in which Young had been arrogant or petulant.

If he was or wasn't at Villa, thats got nothing to do with his claim today, and people simply asked him what the hell he meant, and instead of explaining it, he went off on a tangent and attacked every post asking him what he meant...... which is generally what people who either can't debate, or have no actual point in the first place do, they'll argue semantics over what they actually said, claim they said something different, claim anything, have a go at any point anyone said rather than answer a very simple question.

Well thats fine, again having an opinion isn't wrong, I'll point out I think he is indeed a pratt and theres nothing likable about him, but I'm entitled to my opinion and you yours. The only reason I'd call you out for your opinion is if you said something completely ridiculous with your opinion like

" I like Barton because he's such a well mannered, responsible, pleasant young man who conducts himself perfectly on and off the pitch" I won't argue that you like him, I'd certainly argue/debate/smack you in the face for saying the other parts though :p

Ha na I wouldnt say that. I dont know why I like him. I think hes a good player and should have been called up to the England side if it wasnt for his reputation. Also he has a "I take no **** attitude" too. He is quite intelligent though which many people dont expect because of his behaviour

Also cheers for the new sig, im sure you will love it ;)

EDIT:Changed it again so can now ignore this!

I didn't see the Man City game yesterday. Were they as good as the scoreline suggests? I predicted Man U, Man C, Chelsea & Liverpool top 4 - early season form doesn't suggest anything otherwise but maybe top spot will be more closely contested than I orginally thought.

On a side note, I took Dzeko out of my FF team and replaced him with Suarez last week :(

Slight OT: Hansen on MOTD last night.. Rooney makes a long track back to stop an advance and it's 'passion for the team', Nasri does it and it's 'well you would if you're being paid 160k a week'. It's just sad :p He could at least try and disguise his hatred for us when presenting something on the beeb, it's not Sky Alan.

Spurs had their chances like you would expect them too at WHL, but I've even had Spurs fans tell me after that game they've not seen anyone play that well there in a very long time. We were fantastic at points, and I don't think you can say we were 'gifted' any of the goals. I highly doubt anyone else will get a result that good there this season.

Man City were excellent today but I dont think you can say they beat a good team (I am a Spurs fan).

Over and over again, Harry plays his default 442 against varaitions of 433 or 4231. Essentially you end up with two central midfield players trying to cope with 5 players drifting centrally.

We do not have the distribution or energy to cope with that in 442. Nasri, Silva, Dzeko and Aguero had all the time in the world today. Modric and Krancjar were trying to tackle 5 players. The two central defenders were trying to mark zonally and missing everything.

It was a farce; it happened on Monday at Old Trafford and Harry STILL played the same system against Man City. It is absolutely absurd that he is still in charge. He has no idea about tactics and we keep getting raped because of it.

FOR TLDR: Man city maximised their opportunities against a Spurs team who were set up incorrectly and knew it.

Thought Welbeck was great yesterday until he got injured, can really see him keeping Hernandez out of the team once he's back and fit, and him and Rooney being England's front two for the next few years. With Cleverley and Young providing the support :)

I like Welbeck but I don't think he's good enough to keep Hernandez out the team. That boy is world class

And being injured just gave Hernandez a much bigger shot at getting over his bng on the head and getting some form in. Had Welbeck kept playing and kept scoring it would have been far tougher for him to get in the starting 11 much like Berba last season.

Well no joy for us forest fans this weekend, but a cracking weekend of good football on the tv.

Droped the forest match at half time to watch city/spurs, man/ars afterwards.... the quality of play and goals scored were top draw.

City were just too strong to the man on the pitch, the rockets that united were firing yesterday, they'd have tanned most teams by the scoreline, outstanding shooting/finishing.

As for the reds, somebody just needs to school mclaren on the word 2nd phase, aside the own goal, setpeice comes out, westham players just shifted from their markers... 3/4 free players in the box... goal!

We actualy played ok, but when you're coughing up free goals against, not good:)
