Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2013 - 1st January 2014]

Eto should have been off in the first 3 mins or at the very least should have been a yellow, Suarez should have had a pen, Hazard dived, Lucas & Oscar should have been off for the incident in the second half.

Kawaga is awesome just a shame he is never played in his position & if he is its only for like a game.

We've had arguably our hardest 2 games of the season back to back, with an already thin squad that's been hit by injuries, and shocking decisions from the officials have cost us points in both games. It's ****ing annoying.

arsenal spanked u at the emirates and the officials for that game where fine. No excuses. outplayed by the gunners :D

Jason Cundy's one of the biggest morons in football. And btw, it was your manager crying about a game over 8 years ago in the build up to yesterday's match, bitter? ;)

Chelsea deserved the win on balance of play yesterday, but there were refereeing decisions which went against us.

I never like arguing that we would have drawn or won had those decisions gone the other way as there is no way to know what else would have changed off the back of it, but there are strong arguments that Eto'o ought to have at least had a yellow, and that Suarez should have had a penalty.

That said, I begrudge the City result an awful lot more than this one, as we actually played well enough to deserve something from the game. Yesterday, in the first half particularly, we were poor.

The balance of play is irrelevant though. Chelsea should have been down to 10 men after the 2nd minute, and I say that as a fan of Chelsea.

Hazard is a winger and Kagawa is a CAM. Hazard gets constant game time, Kagawa doesn't.

I think the truth runs much deeper than that.

Hazard is a positive, driving attacking influence. He is decisive, scores goals.

If kagawa showed any of that he would start more. In his preferred position he does nothing and from the left wing even less.

You just have to accept that he's either not got it or can't do it.

...we've already seen he can do it. It's just a shame he moved to a club and ended up under 2 managers who don't know how to use him and just try and wedge him into a 4-4-2.

Only in a vastly inferior league.

Good players shine through. You would see him making the game his own and getting on the ball and doing a Kaka or something. Not doing precisely nothing every time he plays...

I guarantee you if kagawa had been Spanish or Tunisian we would not have bought him.

Quite a few injuries for Arsenal tomorrow:

Ozil, Ramsey, Giroud and Gibbs out.
Verm and Monreal are only just returning after illness.
Rosicky, Wilshere and Walcott are doubtful

Luckily we're playing Cardiff at home.

No worries:
-Whoever can hold down their breakfast out of Vermaelen and Monreal is a better LB than Gibbs
-Podolski finally gets a chance to lead the line
-Flamini and Arteta in double-pivot
-Santi guarenteed to start, partnered by at least one of the doubts and possibly Gnabry

I'm just hoping Wenger doesn't use the injuries as an excuse to put Podolski LW and start with Bendtner.

Podolski doesn't strike me as a target man, for all the hate Giroud gets, he does the rubbish stuff well, holding up the ball, getting his head in there...not sure Pod can do that? Bendtner could...

It would be ridiculous if Arsenal won with their strike force, every other team has four top strikers.

Good enough for Jose to have wanted him at RM. Maybe if he got a solid run in the centre, he'd get better and bulk up.
Just stick him in CM behind Rooney and RvP with Carrick or another proper mf, not Cleverley. It would work. Eriksen and Holtby aren't really proper CM and Sherwood is using them in CM.

So very very hungover and got to try to get myself up to Peterborough for our game today. This should be fun!
