When the transfer happened it was mentioned that he was more of a central player maybe DM or CB, however, he's playing because Wenger was happy going into this season with Flamini, Arteta and Wilshere as our most defensive midfield players... three heavily injury prone players and only Wilshere being good enough but in the same way Fabregas is good defensively but you'd want a dedicated DM alongside him.

The thing is that IF you see Chambers in such a position then Southampton away when they both play very good football and have a very strong central midfield is not the game to start him off there at all.

Once again, if we'd bought a proper DM years ago and a genuinely top notch back up DM then we wouldn't be in this position.

EDIT:- Sanchez goes to ground exceptionally easily again... dive, not convinced, not convinced it wasn't. Multiple games this year when under pressure Sanchez has dived and we've ended up with a goal from it. Southampton should have been 3-0 up from that Pelle chance not long ago though.
 
Reminds me of how they looked in the first half against Stoke, and the game against Swansea.

At this point I look at the squad and there are so many players that just aren't good enough - I don't know if we will ever challenge for the title again without a wholesale clearout of most of the first team squad.
 
Oh what a surprise it wasn't Gerrad... We just dont use him right, He hasn't the legs at all for 90mins. He was great when he came on back end of game for 30mins for us few weeks back, He was fresh could help out even with forward runs etc. The constant use of him just doesn't work
