Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2014 - 1st January 2015]

Have a feeling Chelsea will have a lot more goals in them than City over the 2nd half of the season, but I wonder if JM is concerned about a certain "friend" in the enemy camp.....

Just a feeling or are you basing that on something? Chelsea have, for the main part, kept their main attacking players fit and on the pitch every week. City on the other hand have been without their main striker for long spells and any striker at all for a few matches too.

I think there's much more scope for City to kick on than Chelsea.

I don't think Kane would want to go anywhere unless he moves abroad. He is actually a Spurs fan, grew up in Chingford, been with the academy for yonks etc etc.

Anyway, too premature to be talking shizzle like that anyway.

Africa Cup of Nations should affect City some what (and it wont really affect Chelsea as much)

Also why do you think City's injury's will clear up automatically? If , like Man Utd, they are having to rush players back, there is potential for more injuries to occur - not only this but with the CL coming back in Feb imo Chelsea have a much better squad to be able to deal with the added games.

The result today is also a one off for Chelsea, they will undoubtedly bounce back. City have struggled even at home vs Burnley and Sunderland recently not to mention others

Of course city could go on a big run now and get out of sight, but I just think its more like Chelsea to do this rather than City

Can anyone sum up the spurs vs chelsea match?

I just heard of the results and quite frankly i am very surprised.

Was it because chelsea simply did not show up? Or did Spurs played like a peaked Bayern Munich/Real Madrid side?

Because only those two teams could possibly beat chelsea in such a high score

ACoN won't make a huge difference - Toure will miss a couple of games but that's about it.

And sure there's no guarantee that things will improve on the injury front but it's highly unlikely to get worse and on the flip side Chelsea's can't get any better too.

As for the squad depth, I couldn't disagree more. City are far better equipped in my opinion. If Costa, Hazard and/or Fabregas are out for a prolonged period Chelsea will struggle far more than what City have when they've been without the likes of Aguero and Silva. Chelsea's first 11 is a match for City's, if not better, but City have the squad and should cope better with the added games.

He grew up with my younger brother in the same secondary school. Use to see him around whenever my bro invited him over to hang out

Isn't it goals for, rather than name?

Remember we are talking about the CL - where City are notoriously bad /unlucky so therefore HAVE to play their best team (or as near to it as possible)

JM will tinker and probably be able to get away with a weaker XI

woop

we took our chances. chelsea were very good so can't say they didn't turn up. we had more belief from the front line that is harry kane!

to put 5 past a mourinho chelsea team is a testament to spurs today.

still errors in our defence, thw worst of which was terry's goal, not hazards imo but we can work on that.

nice one. So it seems rather then chelsea not turning up, Spurs played brilliant

City have got Barca in the CL, it's very possible that they'll only have 2 games left to play. It's not going to be that big a deal.

And if either side get to the business end of the CL they'll both prioritise that and play squad players in the League games either side and it's those squad players, imo, where City edge out Chelsea.

Aye, going forward we were excellent.

I wonder what will come of that Cahill kick on Kane though? It was quite clearly a deliberate kick. I hope Dowd didn't see it so retrospective action can be taken.
