Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2014 - 1st January 2015]

I wonder what will come of that Cahill kick on Kane though? It was quite clearly a deliberate kick. I hope Dowd didn't see it so retrospective action can be taken.

i forgot about that and kanes reaction (same with the rooney rugby tackle) is a testament to his attitude. i thought his breed died out in the 70's.

City have got Barca in the CL, it's very possible that they'll only have 2 games left to play. It's not going to be that big a deal.

And if either side get to the business end of the CL they'll both prioritise that and play squad players in the League games either side and it's those squad players, imo, where City edge out Chelsea.

I disagree - but fair enough

I guess we will see in a few months time :)

Can anyone sum up the spurs vs chelsea match?

I just heard of the results and quite frankly i am very surprised.

Was it because chelsea simply did not show up? Or did Spurs played like a peaked Bayern Munich/Real Madrid side?

Because only those two teams could possibly beat chelsea in such a high score

Chelsea were utter crap for about 15 mins. Settled better later on but they were nowhere near their best. Spurs didn't play as well as they can and still got three before halftime. Both teams were good second half but both sets of dfeneders needed shooting at one stage :)

Gah. :(

Only consolation was that Hazard was immense.

Chelsea's form hasn't been great recently, maybe this will prompt a January signing. If Hazard, Fabregas or Matic gets injured I can't see us winning the league at this rate.

What are peoples' thoughts on Willian? I don't really rate him; his work rate is brilliant but in terms of creativity and cutting through a defence, he doesn't seem to offer a lot other than pace.

Oscar is also an odd one; he has moments of brilliance (that outside of the foot shot) but it's hard to pinpoint what he's really good at. He rarely picks out a wonder ball, he doesn't dribble through 2/3 players, his shooting can be fantastic, can be extremely wayward.

Generally, they look far too reliant on Hazard to create something at the moment.

Pretty much my thoughts on him. Decent player and puts in a shift but doesn't really frighten you. Certainly doesn't look like a £30m+ player.

If you were to say where Chelsea need to improve to match the likes of Bayern/Real in real quality you would say it's Oscar/Willian who could be improved upon the most easily. Neither are consistently good in an attacking sense. Both usually put in hard working shifts but they ruin more attacks than they contribute to(okay true for all players but to a worse degree than top players do).

I don't think Oscar scores or assists enough for a player in his position at all. Willian I just see play so many games where I think he's been crap and he's at an age where really he should be showing real consistency rather than the odd great game. Oscar is 23, maybe you wouldn't expect him to be as consistent yet and he has time to improve but for the position he plays I think he should already be scoring more than he is and being generally a lot more influential than he is. I think Chelsea should be looking for a better first team player currently and watching how Oscar progresses in the next 12-18 months, if you find someone better use Oscar in rotation and see if he improves and if he doesn't then think about moving him on and bringing in another young player with potential.

Willian 1 goal and 1 assist, in the league and the CL as it happens, and in both cases they were in the same game so he's only scored/assisted in 2 games out of 18 starts and 6 sub appearances. 1 goal in 33 shots in the league.

In terms of back up I still don't massive rate Chelsea's squad, Ramires, Mikel, Remy, Salah, Remy has potential, the rest aren't good enough.

Everything is created by Fabregas and Hazard right now. Oscar is still young and has shown potential but Willian just doesn't provide any end product.

I'm hoping we get Reus to replace Willian!

They are modern day Maloudas. They don't produce much but their movement ans what they do on the ball helps other stars in the team to shine
