Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th February - 04 March 2015]

If you can't think of many more within the past month nah you haven't been watching

9/11 wins

City spurs Southampton in a row, we doin alright

I would question the idea that you were as responsible for Citys apparent lack of organisation and tactics as they were. You played well. I watched the game. You chased well, you closed down well and you moved the ball well. City gave you far too much space and left huge gaps between attack and midfield for you to exploit.

The big difference between United vs City and Liverpool vs City is that you played well and we didn't. If United played well and City didn't then we would have beaten them too.

Of course we were the cause (at least partly) to their disorganisation. Ever since we've moved to this 3-4-3 system only Everton, who played with 3 men sat in front of the back 4, haven't struggled to contain us. Look at the 2 legs of the semi vs Chelsea, one of the best defensive and organised sides in Europe, how many chances did we create in that tie?

The way we play and with the players we have in the system, it's causing teams all sorts of problems to stop us. It allows us to play with 4 cm's when we need (with Coutinho and Lallana supplementing the CM), fullbacks don't know whether to pick up our wing backs or Coutinho/Lallana and CB's are being pulled out of position trying to pick those 2 up too.

Yes City could have been better set-up but simply playing Fernando alongside Fernandinho wouldn't have solved their problems. Zabaletta's been one of the best (if not the best) RB in the league over the last few years and I can't remember him having as many problems as we caused him. As above he didn't know what to do with Coutinho because every time he followed him inside Moreno was overlapping down the left. Yes Kompany's not having the best of time but he too was left with the decision of sitting off and allowing Coutinho to pick the ball up or coming out of defence to intercept him. And we didn't just capitalise on the space behind City's midfield, we stopped them playing too; Toure averages a near 90% pass completion rate, against us it was 75%. Did he just have a bad day or was it a result of Henderson and Allen pressing him everytime he got on the ball?

Cisse and Evans have both been charged for spitting and will be banned for 6 games if (or should I say when) found guilty.

If you spit at somebody on the street you might get a telling off and a fine, on the football pitch a 6 game ban. If you head butt somebody on the street and break their nose you could get sent down, on the football pitch it's a 3 game ban.

It's a weird one isn't it. Normally when you aggressively spit at some one you do the head movement like Cisse did when he retaliated. Evan's attempt kinda looks like a stealthy spit down that Cisse has clearly reacted to. Evan's then acts like he didn't even relise he'd spat at Cisse and reacts like anyone else would.

At this point, whether Evan's subconsciously spat down or meant it probably doesn't matter at this point with all the media coverage. :(

Lol at Evans trying to deny it. They should ban him for more games than Cisse, IMO. At least he was man enough to admit it and apologise.

Also spitting worse than career ending challenges and elbows? Mmkay.

Anyone who watches the vine I posted in this thread and still thinks Evans didn't mean it definitely has mental deficiencies.

Come on Johnny, you sound like the Mancs and Evra now.

I think the whole incident and his denial that he spat nor knew that Cisse spat at him, makes Evans look like a sneaky ****er.

Going by the video you'd be hard pushed to make a convincing case that he didn't mean it. For him to claim that he didn't even know their was a spitting incident was laughable though - Cisse pointing it out to the ref right in front of him must have given him a clue.

He's had to deny knowing Cisse spat at him because of his lack of reaction to it, which was explained by the fact that he spat at Cisse first.

Cisse has accepted his charge and been banned for 7 games. The extra game is because this is his 2nd suspension of the season.

The whole disciplinary process and various length of bans is nuts.

As I touched on above, you spit on somebody, make a racist remark and assault somebody on the street, which is going to get you in the most trouble? For some reason assault or ending somebody's career with a horror tackle is deemed far less serious in football.

Its highly debatable whether Evans actually spat at Cisse - the opposite way round cannot be said however.

Yes , Evans did spit in Cisse's direction (which isn't the same thing for all of you with learning difficulties), but IF - and its debatable whether any ban will make a national /world wide difference - then Im all for Evans getting banned for the same 6 games.

Yes its disgusting and there shouldn't be any excuse for it - but to have spitting regarded the same as a head butt, biting or racism is ludecrious in the extreme

Whether Cisse "manned" up or not should have no effect on the length of ban - , he went right up into JE's face and spat within an inch or two of his face
