Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th February - 04 March 2015]

I understood the Chamberlain/Gibbs incidence but Brown and O'Shea look nothing like each other :p

Still gotta give credit for Brown going off with a smile.

Because I call him Ox or AOC I read that as you could understand Chambers/Gibbs being mistake for each other..... I was mightily confused for a second :p

Ref has been budget all game but that is a shocker. Brown didn't even commit a foul.

Great penalty. You don't save those. Perhaps leave Falcao on now that Sunderland have to chase the game.

To be fair... if something deserving of a red card happens within Wes Browns presence 99 out of 100 times he will deserve a red card ;)

This is exactly like the Stoke game a couple of weeks ago. Play poorly, go 1-0 up, fail to take our chances on the break... 1-1 written all over it.

Valencia not knowing what a good pass would look like so ignores them all.

Such strange tactics. Put Fellaini on then Mata? Makes no sense tactically. Mata and Fellainis styles are not complementary so you will probably just weaken us defensively.

E: And for our remaining striker...

Earlier in the season his tactic was to put Falcao, Rooney, RvP, Mata and every attacking player on at the same time.

Is he offside there? haven't seen a replay showing that angle.

I have no idea what United side people are talking about when they say that "this isn't the United we are used to". We have been dull for about 5 or more years now and Ferguson kept winning things because he always had just enough to be better than the other teams in the league most of the time. RvP won us the league in his first season with so many cracking goals that no one else in the league was capable of scoring. Teams were still scared of us under Ferguson.

If we are still poor after the summer then I think we have reason to complain but I am happy enough to give LvG another season at the moment. As much as people say that statistically we aren't much better this season than last, the football we are playing is miles better and its still not great most of the time. Last season was just dire.

We're the worst team in the league right now. We fully deserve to go down, most fans wouldn't argue otherwise. I just can't see a way out for us.

Currently you do, agreed. You're lucky it's still quite close down there. I haven't seen your remaining fixtures, mind.

The only thing I would disagree with is that sides were still frightened of Utd in Fergie's last season, I really don't think that was the case.

Yes we strung enough results together with an inform RvP as you said, but the "scared of going to OT" has been slipping for at least 3 seasons imo, and away from home a lot longer than that

Still feels harsh that they get a red and a penalty against them. A penalty would do in instances like that, imo.

Yeah, I would say that a yellow is plenty for that challenge.

Why? If all O'Shea is going to give away is a penalty and possibly a yellow card it makes no sense for him not to foul the attacker. Not only was the chance that would have fallen to Falcao easier than a penalty, there was also the chance he'd get away with it. There has to be an added punishment there to act as a deterrent or else defenders would be hacking down forwards every time they went through 1 on 1 with the keeper in the area.
