If he's going to do something like that, he should just keep AVB and let AVB buy his own team.
I'm sure he's capable but at the moment he's got a squad of players who mostly don't like him or respect him and they don't seem to fit well in his system at all.
It's a disaster at the moment and I'm not sure what they can do about it. A new manager could make the team happier and get them playing well, but who...

Quite clearly that dressing room is in pieces, I imagine to many ego's, to many players with to much power over it all.
He needs to do his own thing, it's the same team as the last few seasons with a few players here and there. It's not his team really.
Anyone going there is going to face the same problems, players sulking and not getting there way. Manager will have to do the same thing or bow to player pressure.

Certainly the better side, don't deserve to be losing but when we can't do the basics and mark the best striker in the league we only have ourselves to blame.

In terms of FFP, if you're going to fail, you may as well fail big. Nothing stopping CHelsea spending HUGE and missing out on Europe for 3 years, they might miss out anyway as they are currently no where near losing only 45mil over a 3 year period, they do twice that in a single year.
In terms of management AVB hasn't shown a single shred, so far, of being a top manager. Delusional support, poor buys(if no buys are his, then how will he build his own team anyway?), who says he can build his own team, other managers have won titles without their own teams built from the ground up.
Either way, winning the title was a slim to non existant shot this year anyway, 3rd wasn't, 5th is a joke.
he's got most of the same players, playing worse than last year.
Seriously has anyone else ever heard of a manager demanding the team run over and celebrate with them in a showing of fake respect and support? The guy is psychotic.
I don't think it would be possible for AVB to turn it round like this if he's lost the dressing room. They need to start fresh I reckon, it will be interesting to see what happens. I think the situation should be a lesson to work on their youth system like United.

AVB is also an employee of the club, and he's behaving like a child. There is no blind support for the manager, if the manager is doing a terrible job and making the team worse, why should the players either, be happy with that, or not speak up about it.
AVB seems to be the only man who needs to sort anything out. As for a random player doing incredibly badly but finding himself in the first team..... that isn't the first time a player in such a position ends up sucking up to the boss in interviews and he won't be the last.
You’ve echoed my sentiments at this moment in time. AVB appears to not have full control over the dressing room. He certainly has no say in transfer policy and also appears not to be very good at tactics. I get the feeling that man management isn’t up to much either. He also does not now have much support in the club.
If he's trying to bring a change then I haven't seen anything really positive in the games I’ve witnessed this season. It just goes from bad to worse. He’s had enough time to show us a positive change and that has just not happened.
I feel sorry for him but he’s not going to make it because it will hit rock bottom before anything changes and Abramovich will not wait that long. There is of course the possibility that it will stay at rock bottom and that possibility really does seal his fate.
There is talk of bringing in Benitez as a manager until the rest of the season so that he can inspire Torres. I just pray to god that rumour isn’t true. A return by Jose would be great and he has just been in town “house hunting” so you never know. I live in hope!
