Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 7th December 2011]

That sums Suarez up for me.

What reputation exactly has Ferguson generated against him?

He's refering to Taggart's highly hypocritical "diving all over the place" comment.

There's no doubt that Suarez will look/play for fouls, make the most of any contact and roll about a lot but considering he's made out (by some people) to be the worst diver the worlds ever seen, you'll struggle to find an incident of him going over under no contact since being with us. There's far far worse out there than him but unfortunately he's got this bad boy reputation that others haven't.

lol what are you nuts? look at the gif peg has posted 2 posts up. we don't need that kind of thing in the prem.

Sorry but that is silly, infact, insanely so, LONG before he even came to the UK he was branded a cheat, and quite a bad one at that.

Almost everyone knows about his handball on the line in the world cup, (in fact I just googled and after "suarez world cup", google autofilled CHEAT in there :p ) and biting a guys ear in the dutch league.

He is a diver, he consistently goes down over nothing, he runs into players, and he mouths off after EVERY single non decision, he gets in the ref's faces, he screams at everyone, he does his best " why me" face and hand gestures like a maniac...... all after he dives.

ALL players dive, sometimes, some players dive A LOT and there is a noticeable difference.

Suarez the other week trod on Kompany's ankle, then through himself down and tried to get Kompany a second yellow and proceded to complain about it for ages afterwards.

Bringing Fergie into it to be honest, shows how weak the argument is, Fergie has had zero bearing on any ones feelings on Suarez, he's been a known cheat since anyone had ever heard of him.

The irony being, if he spent less time looking for the foul and more time looking for the goal, he'd be an even better player. At least two of the fouls last night, the supposed penalty and against Senderos he just goes up to players throws his arms around them, goes down and asks for a decision. Here's a hint if you're trying to run PAST a player, if that player puts up his arm across you it stops you going past, if YOU put up YOUR arm its you stopping yourself going past and trying to make it look like a foul.

Great footballer when he's focusing on football, horrible cheat, has zero shame in cheating then acting as if he's been cheated when he doesn't get the decision.

Its a shame your a gooner DM, you talk real sense :D

Look at the gif and then read what I said. I said he'll look for fouls and make the most of any contact that comes his way. There's very clear contact there which he's tried to win a free-kick out of.

There are far worse "divers" than him in the league.

Yeah but he kicks Kompany not the other way round?! I'd say Suarez is one of the worst, but would be interested to hear who you think is far worse. Especially now Eboue-man has left

Does he kick Kompany intentionally or is it a coming together as 2 players are going for the ball (and I never said Kompany kicked him)? He's then exaggerated it and tried to win a free-kick. I'm not saying that it's right to do that but compare that to say Phil Jones's dive at the weekend and tell me what was worse.

*using the Jones one as an example because it got absolutely no attention in the media, not because he'a a Manc.

edit: And as for who's worse; any player that's gone down under no contact, which as yet, Suarez hasn't done since being with us. I could name a list but I think Utd fans might take offense when I name half their side :p

It's more likely that it's in fact Suarez's actual diving that gives him this reputation and not one comment said by Ferguson. Some of you guys give Ferguson too much credit for things and not enough for others. :p

Fixed :)

you are blinkered, he is treading down on the city player (that's the contact), he makes no attempt to go to the ball. he's trying to win a free kick by being a cheating, nasty little player. you're taking the same stance you did last night when you said liverpool players are not the only players to surround the ref, it's a case of liverpool or suarez in this case being in the wrong and you trying to justify it by turning the tables.

It's not the comment as such but the press attention that comes from that comment.

As above, Jones's dive at the weekend was beyond embarrassing yet got zero coverage. Eduardo got an absolute hammering after the Celtic dive because of all the attention it got, yet the same week Ashley Young dived twice for Villa in the Uefa Cup but it got zero coverage and he was saved the treatment Eduardo got.

Worse than Suarez??!

Have a day off.

You're taking the ****? I didn't name names because it would just start an arguement but Ashley Young's the biggest diver I can ever remember seeing play. And I felt and said that long before he joined Utd too.

Another good example or Ashley Young's dive in the same match.

All 3 of those dives got zero coverage.

In the united game, Downing had the most shocking of all dives ever, and it didn't even make the back pages once. Yet Suarez's "simulation" got mentioned every other sentence.

Why is that? Because he's (Downing) English or what?

And what about Nani, Drogba of the past, Ronaldo..
Why is it only becoming an issue when Liverpool finally get a player who bends the rules?

And people say there's no media driven (or Fergie driven) agenda, so whats the reason then?

I honestly haven't noticed that at all. I'd have no issue admitting he was a diver if he actually was, I don't like them.

I still very much doubt he's worse than Suarez though.
