Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

Lampard is not able to run around like he used to, complete lack of stamina now. Not acceptable in the modern EPL.

Drogba just turns up when the moon and stars are aligned. He basically did nothing all day, even the penalty was rubbish. He stops mata taking freekicks which is madness.

AVB has tried something new and when it worked we all thought how amazing it was, now its looking like rubbish because the players dont turn up. AVB will survive and will probably qualify for CL this season but the next 17 games are going to be tough unless they really back him in the transfer market which is not looking likely.

Only ray of hope is essien is soon back though at 29 and 2 major injuries that might not be so great.

Watched the Manu game late.

Shocking performance.

Watched park all game and he made 1 forward pass in the 90 minutes.

When Anderson came on the game totally changed. It's just a shame he took of hernandez instead of park.

Gives man city the perfect chance to extend the lead we closed.

And a bench full of kids...come on fergie.

Wigan just need get some wins, too many draws, game was there for the taking and so how managed to come behind with 10 men and get a point

thats some fighting spirit

One minute Park is class next minute he is not, you fringe players are terrible, you cant compete with City anymore in terms of buying.

Why have you so many injuries, is it down to bad luck or over training

They can't compete with us signing the players we want.

They can however sign players like Parker who is not world class but a lot better than what they have at the moment.

Everyone slags Barry but at the end of the day he is a good player to have in the squad, can play variety of positions and when put with class players like Balotelli and Aguero etc he does a good job.

Parker would be the same around players like Rooney and Berbatov.

Then you also have players like Zaba, he isn't the only player in the world that is around 6m and do a great job.

That's incorrect, both Berbatov and Young signed for United ahead of City

As for cheets I'm not sure who's ever claimed Park is class but he's a useful squad player as long as he isn't played out of position which we're having to do due to injuries

Did we actually ever seriously want Berbatov? Wasn't it just a PR plot after the Robinho signing and the takeover etc and thank you for doing, he is awful.

Brilliant result for Birmingham, for a team that finds goals hard to come by, scoring 3 was great. Great to see Nathan Redmond score to, a great prospect for the future.

I was talking about Young, I was saying thanks for signing him as he is awful. Bar one exhibition game v Arsenal he has never done anything. Only watched the games on ESPN and the motd so maybe its harsh.

Besides, I don't ever remember us being linked to him anyway...however he probably said in the interview when he signed after a talk with utd PR.

+1

A great end to the year for what was a terrible start to the season!

Another +1...happy we are in 4th for the new yr...what a turnaround after our shocking defeat at Utd earlier in the season.

Rofls at Utd losing yo Blackburn, guess that means Kean survives the chop lol:p..Well done to Swansea for holding the Spuds:D...deffo made my day that result...and the last laughs are on Chelsea, losing to Villa...think theres more chance that AVB will be sacked before Kean goes:p...Chelsea havent got a clue anymore by the looks of it.

Looking forward to the new year with us being in 4th and hopefully Henry back in an Arsenal shirt.

A decent weekend of results for Liverpool. Hopefully the couple of days extra rest for us will help us get a result against City on Tuesday but even the worst happens and we lose, we're not going to be far from 4th and (on paper at least) we'll have an easier 2nd half of the season than our rivals (we'll have played City twice and of the other 5 top sides, we're at home to all except Utd).

Nani was absolutely awful today.

ESPN overlay came up during the game with a very interesting fact on Nani's crossing, with him having 21% cross competition. His massive ego that is present in majority of games was on show today, constantly trying to beat Blackburn's left back by simply knocking the ball 20 yards ahead and trying to out pace Henley and failing.

Even from a stand still, he tried to beat his man, miss-controlled and put the ball out for a Blackburn goal kick. Then there was the free kick which he pretty much passed to a Blackburn player....

Valencia and Berbatov were probably the only players putting in a decent performance today.
