Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

I feel sorry for lindegaard. Nothing he could have done about two wonder goals and a Jones miss kick\knee\header

Well done Newcastle, completely out played us. Any team that presses us quickly and we will buckle. :(

phil jones being one of them. his numbers up. money well spent lol.

well done newcastle, very good game and much deserved.

Yup, should be sold off now really, what a bad mistake, for a 19 year old CB who has years of experience he really shouldn't be making any mistakes...oh wait.

Well im an arsenal fan and dont like how sprs are playing. plus they canta fford adebayor. his on 170k a week

They haven't had a bad patch yet, it'll happen at some point. Wonder how they'll do when Redknapp goes to prison? (He'll probably slip a few notes to the right people and obtain a get out of jail free card)

Are you just stupid or do you intentionally try to wind people up the whole time. It was 3 vs 3 when Jones fouled him and you will see hundreds of yellows like that a season when a player stops an attack from progressing at the expense of a yellow. The free kick was fantastic and he wouldn't score from there 99/100 so stop being stupid.

Ferdinand is looking slow and was lucky not to be caught out a few times this game so to blame it all on Phil Jones is again, stupid.

you've conceded 6 goals in 2 games. which keeper is to blame then?

Great job lads, massive performance. going to be tough without Ba and Tiote but at least we are up there at this point :)

HAWAY THE LADS!!!!!

glad to see a result went your way after the Heat going down to Atlanta, You got Indiana @ Bankers Life Fieldhouse tonight, this ones gona be tough too, Pacers are playing well.

The 40million offer from Chelsea already spoke and got turned down. Spurs do not need to sell, you'd think that was pretty obvious now.

I meant in terms of wages

what's that got to do with tonights result? bitterness?

and to put that comment into perspective, we paid circa £45m for those 3 players so should they go, we'll just have to scout around and replace for a similar figure and cash the profit for a new stadium :D

People mentioned Spurs and City, why would I be bitter? LOL

So you don't think Levy'll break the wage structure to keep them/sign an awesome striker/etc?

~Player power~?

Seriously, not sure if serious? Modric wanted to go. He has a 5-6 year contract. We said no. He stays. Simple. That goes for every other player now that Harry/Levy wants to keep. If they are in contract and we don't want them to go, they will stay.

Levy won't break the wage structure for Adebeyor, it'll be down to Adebeyor to drop his wages if he wants to join, and that may end up being down to how much he is enjoying life at Spurs.

What are you talking about. Lindegaard couldn't have saved any of those goals tonight and having a defence that is shaky at the moment doesn't help any keeper. When we have Vidic back we will be fine but until then, I don't think either keeper is going to have a good time of things.

There were a few moments tonight when Lindegaard was lucky that the ball didn't fall differently and if it had, they would have gone down as keeper error. De Gea didn't get that luck last game so he made those mistakes.

What are you getting at by the way?

so much for the backlash

well done to the mags...and thats from a sunderland fan.

uniteds midfield was totally dominated

Ba is going to be a big miss when he heads of to the ACON

Where to start?

Obviously injuries dictate who we can play in defence but Ferdinand and Jones simply does not work as a centre back pairing. They were the pairing in the 3-3 against Basel and they were about as bad tonight as they were in that game. Ferdinand was constantly left to deal with Ba on his own and he struggled.

We actually missed Jones in midfield because the pairing of Carrick and Giggs just couldn't match the work rate of Tiote and Cabaye.

Up front too many players out of form, not sure whether Rooney or Fergie is to blame for his form because prior to the game against Wigan when he was rested it looked like he was back but he was left out of the team for that game dropped altogether against Blackburn and was just dominated by Coloccini tonight.
For all the good form Berbatov's in it was proved last season that him and Rooney away from home just doesn't work, both want to drop deep far too much leaving no ball in behind/over the top. There was an immediate change the second Welbeck came on.
To top it all off Nani for the second game in a row was useless, Park was crap, Valencia again was confined to right back and all Hernandez contributed was being caught offside time and time and time again.

It's been clear for a number of weeks now that this is City's title to lose, it's amazing we started the week level on points with them tbh and whilst with there only being a 3 point gap anything can still happen they've clearly got everything going for them this season.

What on earth are you talking about?

just trying to work out who utd fans feel is to blame? i mean, i know jones has great potential but you conceded 3 tonight, he gave away the free kick that lead to the second and we all know about the 3rd. united conceding 3 on the bounce is not a regular occurance is it? why's it happening, you tried a different keeper tonight, it happened again. i know your squad is depleted but your core was pretty solid.

Both Manchester teams beaten by the North East teams. Doubt we will see that happening again in the near future :p

lindegaard not at fault for any goals. He looks so assured most of the time a bit like a young friedel. De gea makes a mistake every time I see him play and he looks petrified, a but like Gomes. [I do still love Gomes though]
