Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th January - 3rd February 2015]

any arsenal fans shed light on what really happened with kane at arsenal? was it a case of wenger not rating him?

he's currently top scorer in all comps and getting stronger. his strike and penalty yesterday were very convincing.

At such a young age I doubt Wenger rarely if ever saw him play. Or he could have looked as skilled as a flip flop.

I'm under the impression that he was a goalkeeper while at Arsenal. Fact is that lots of clubs release players. The top teams youth academies are pretty dire, Chelsea, Arsenal, City have produced very very few first team players , Utd more but not exactly loads and not really Utd quality any more though lots of ex youth players still in the prem league. A lot of ex Arsenal players end up in lower leagues.

I don't rate our ability to train nor spot young talent as most of our youngsters(ie ones who spend a few years at Arsenal say before age 18) rarely hit the first team, if they do it's short lived and they drop down the leagues. If we misjudged his ability I don't know, it's perfectly possible he just sucked 3 years ago and doesn't now. Players go through changes as anyone else does, may not have been a serious person till being given the hook at Arsenal at which point he decides to take his career seriously, that happens to a lot of players I think, kids who think it's all fun and games till they get cut then they realise it's about hard work, maybe he hit a growth spurt and went from slow and weak to big strong and fast.

Every now and then the opposition doesn't take Villa seriously and Villa have their once a season great game.... the first two minutes don't really hint at this being one of those days.

Lol what. Why do I have to name people? The droves of people crying about his work ethic is pretty well documented.

Well firstly I would argue that it's well documented but even if it was, that wasn't what I asked was it. Read it again, I asked you to name someone who thinks he's not that good for the specific reason that he doesn't work hard.

I think he's not that good and NOT because he doesn't work hard. I also think he doesn't work hard, I don't think he's not that good as a direct result of him not working hard, they are unconnected statements.

You indicated there were many ***** who believed he wasn't good BECAUSE he doesn't work hard, I asked you to name someone who specifically stated what you claimed. I don't think Berbatov works massively hard but I think he's a great player. Working hard isn't as important as how you work or who you do it against, there are many reasons to pretty much prove Ozil isn't 'class' and none of them have anything to do with work ethic. He often scores or assists against the likes of Villa or Norwich but often does nothing useful in the slightest against better opposition. An average player can look good against poor opposition, looking good against top opposition is a different prospect. Lets not forget that Walters got a hat trick yesterday, is it a coincidence that Stoke were at home to QPR when he scored his first hat trick.... no, it really wasn't.

You realise my post wasn't directed towards you, right? I know plenty of people who don't rate him solely based on his work rate, hence the use of '*****'.

How does Giroud function in real life when he makes so many bad decisions on the football pitch.

Yup, how he delayed that pass when it was painfully obvious, he even had two chances. When he first got the ball he could have played it in behind the defender, when he delayed he could still have put it inside the fullback as he left a huge gap to Ramsey, instead he pulled it behind him.

POor keeping for the goal, he's been woeful so far. Went down crazy early for the Giroud goal made it easy to chip him. Same for the Cazorla chance went down early, Caz should have chipped him but instead tried to go around a keeper who went down early(so managed to get quite far wide). With Ozil, he had a massive delayed reaction between a shoot hit into the ground without much pace and failed to save it.

I do not know how Lambert or Bruce are still in their jobs having been so bad for soooo long.
