Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [31st March - 5th April 2017]

We're completely out the running now imo, our run in is ridiculously hard. Unless we suddenly change into a different team over night we dont stand a chance in hell away to City, Arsenal and Spurs and home to Chelsea.

I actually think we'll get some good results in those games, but it's too late. Games like tonight and Saturday will be what costs us

Considering your results vs the bottom teams in the league, isn't your run in just as bad? Especially if you are without Llalana and Mane for majority of that?
No but even if you want to look at it as being so, it's not just the respective run ins that work in our favour but the fact that so many of the teams around us are facing each other. Without kicking a ball we already know that at least one of Utd & Arsenal will drop points when they play each other, same again when Utd play City, same again when Utd play Spurs and again when Arsenal play Spurs. Even ignoring Utd and City's games vs Chelsea, there will be a minimum of 4 times (up to 8 if they all end in draws) that sides competing with us for the remaining CL spots will drop points.

More from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, this time speaking to BT Sport: "Did we have chances? Yes. Did we hit the post as always? Yes. Did the keeper play well against us as always? Yes. Did a decision go against us? Yes.

On Luke Shaw: "He has lots of potential but the football brain and the professional brain has to be with the talent. He has to change his football brain. he was doing things in the second half when he was reacting to my voice. If he was on the other side for sure he would not do it. I think he has a future here but Manchester United cannot wait. We need the kids to grow up."

He's actually deluded.

Absolutely woeful performance tonight and despite the incorrect offside decision, we were still lucky to draw. Had Lukaku made some better decisions on the break, we would have conceded more than the one goal. Referee was dire for both teams, Young should have been punished for the tackle on Holgate, the foul on Pogba in the last few minutes of the game and Robles kicking away the ball after the penalty.

The squad is completely unbalanced and disjointed.

More from Jose Mourinho: "I told Luke Shaw his performance was good, but it was good because he was on my side. I was thinking for him and leading his performance. If he was on the other side it would not be the same and at this level it is not possible. He has to improve and we have to help."

Top four possible? "More difficult, very difficult. It is mathematically possible but depends on our opponents. It is an amazing run of 20 matches unbeaten but too many draws at home. Because of that we are in the position we are. We build well but we don't score enough goals, we don't kill off enough opponents and at the end of this season I think we will be punished by that."

Prioritise Europa League? "When we keep losing players I will have to."

Ok so Shaw was good because Mourinho was controlling him like a marionette puppet. He actually sounds like he's lost it completely.

Gives the guys on here more things to have a moan about :)
The reality is actually the opposite. He knows Utd fans want Shaw in the side and by making it appear that Shaw lacks commitment he's hoping fan dissent is now aimed at Shaw rather than him. He done the same thing with Mata at Chelsea, publicly having a dig at his work rate and comparing him unfavourably to Oscar.

I said from day 1 that Shaw wasn't going to have a future under Mourinho and it's nothing to do with just not liking him. For all the stuff he said about LVG, Mourinho isn't much different to him - he wants robotic players that he can programme his game plan into and they will carry out exactly that. Shaw doesn't have the discipline to do that which is what Mourinho was touching on in his post match interview and equally as important, he's not a great defender either. Mourinho has always wanted his fullbacks to be defenders first and foremost so for Shaw to be neither a good defender nor able to follow instructions, it's easy to see why Mourinho isn't picking him.

Well more the fact that it was an obvious foul, but even missing that he then somehow thinks that the ball has come off Pogba when he's on the ground and the ball is 3ft in the air. referees have been unusually incompetent this season, it's worrying.

You dont think grabbing a player by a neck and throwing him to the ground is a yellow card offense?

As long as you don't think it's all going against United it's all good, remember that time Ibrahimovic should have been sent off for throwing a player to the ground as he was already on a yellow?

Absolutely, as I've said multiple times the refereeing has been shocking both for and against us. Rojo and Valencia should have multiple red cards
