Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5 - 6th October 2013]

I remember the days of Wednesday near the top of the league, think you had David Hirst around that time.

I remember when we were in for David Hirst, we missed out and signed Cantona

I might have said this before but I used to go to a few Wednesday matches back then as I was mates with Tango if anyone remembers him :D

Tango man?, I can't say I've noticed him for a while to be honest.

Good old Whelan. He looked 'ok' for Wednesday in the Championship, mental that he has spent so much time in and around a regular place for a Premiership football club thinking about it.

I saw him not long back in the crowd :)

I've not been able to get to the last couple of matches as I've had some things crop up, basically life can be really ****, my dad and brother went to the game today, think my uncle went instead of me, can't say I ask them on a regular basis if they see tango man :p, usually just have to put up with the grumblings about how awful Wednesday were.

You think? Who's going to sign either of those that would be willing or even able to take on either of their wages?

Big clubs often struggle to move on players that don't make it and it's because of their wages. Young and even Anderson would be decent signings for clubs of a certain level, the problem is that those clubs won't be able to pay £100k+ per week.

Would Anderson be on anything like that (for right or wrong I can agree Young could well be unfortunately)

He has played just over one season's worth of games in 5 years - I just cant see Ando being on anything like that (even with the contract renewal somewhere in there)

If he is, that would still saving £5m a season if both of them were moved on with Utd still footing 1/2 the wages (and that amount would be a reasonable start to a new signing's wages - which shouldnt be sniffed at).
