Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 8th November 2015]

With regards to the penalty, any of the following could be relevant.

Dangerous play
It is committed with an opponent nearby and prevents the opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury.

The action becomes an offence only when an opponent is adversely affected.

Playing in a dangerous manner involves no physical contact between the players.

Impeding progress
Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the path of the opponent to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction by an opponent
when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.

I wouldn't have given a red card personally, but that's only because i would be proper lenient with reds. Constant cheating and serious dangerous play would be red for me..

the ball was in playing distance of butland therefore that doesn't apply :o

Also butland didn't commit a dangerous act, he dived at remys feet that's what goalkeepers are there to do

Ref's make mistakes all the time. We have the fortunate advantage of seeing it several times on a camera screen from different angles.

Adrian quite clearly didn't impede him that much. You've got to use your common sense..

Just being obtuse now, you've been shown the actual rule in the FA rule book that allows refs to give fouls for non contact fouls.

Why would that be a penalty? Adrian hasn't impeded him in anyway, he doesn't even break stride.

Completely different situations, I mean, clutch at straws more.

That's a naughty challenge on Payet from Mccarthy ... he's lucky to get away with that.
