Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 8th November 2015]

That was a better game overall, but still rather dull.

WBA were pretty bad, not that great defensively and barely tried to attack.

Happy with the result though. :)

Honestly I'm just getting bored of watching turgid performances week after week. Yes, most of the time we get the result but we should be smashing teams like this 80% of the time. You will occasionally play a lower team that is having an amazing game but regardless of how poor the opponent is, we are dull and predictable.

Its not as if we don't have a decent squad either. Why aren't Schneiderlin, Herrera and Darmian getting regular games. Why is Rooney playing every game when he is useless and we are better without him. Results are one side of the coin, I expect good football and the team to improve over time. Thats just not happening at the moment.

Admittedly I've not watched us as close as I do these days but from what I recall we've been playing like poo for quite a while, even in SAF's last season(s). RVP basically pulled us through to win the title last time?

Agree about your comments regarding squad selection.

It's clear his main focus has been to stabalise the ship, which he has, to be fair. Maybe the end of the season is a good time to leave, with a top four finish unless we buy someone amazing in Jan...

and probably play them out of position or on the bench...

I am too. I find the majority of LvG's decisions quite strange and not something I agree with.

The one good thing he's done recently though - the Smalling/Blind partnership actually works quite well.

Oh, I completely agree. The last few seasons under Fergie were poor as well but that was more due to the quality of player we had. People like Fletcher, Valencia, Evans etc who were all decent mid table players but not United standard. Even then though we tried to play quite attacking football.

I was complaining about our style even then but RvP was scoring some of the best goals I have ever seen as a United fan which softens the blow somewhat :D

Rooney shockingly bad yet again. Another fairly painful performance but against an incredibly defensive side. Balance of the side completely wrong with Young (who was also awful) and Mata on the right. Lingard and Rojo better on the left but not convinced with Carrick and Schwien. Its all a bit pedestrian with those two. HOwever nice that Jesse got his goal and its three points.
