Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 8th November 2015]

Think it was more a case of play on? He was still on his feet and stumbled afterwards as there was no contact... Remy still could have scored to be honest

His presence caused Remy to have to hurdle him, and ultimately was off balance.

Absolute nailed on penalty, for the ref not to give it is an absolute joke.

****'s sake, we actually played alright for change, just cack in front of goal again but to be fair to Stoke they defended well.

Difficult, sometimes you have to take avoiding action and it shouldn't be given as a foul, sometimes it should. It looks like he had plenty of warning and could have jumped him easily. I suspect didn't jump as high as he could, he looked like he put out his leg for a split second before deciding to pull his leg back. IE he only landed badly because he started off intending to go down but changed his mind. Had he jumped higher/cleaner he'd likely have landed and scored easily.

I think there were more contentious decisions. Shawcross's elbow/forearm across Costa as payback, wasn't a massively violent throw of the arm but he pushed into his neck with his arm, he got a yellow probably should have been a red as it was effectively off the ball and violent conduct. Pedro should have gotten a yellow for the kick in the face early on, several other players should have got yellow cards, Costa/Adam amongst them. Off the top of my head I can't recall an obvious yellow Ramires should have got but being Ramires I'm going to assume there was at least one yellow he got away with :p

Like any decision outside the area, the ref sees if the advantage materialises then brings it back. That attempt on goal was never an advantage over a penalty kick - he was off balance striking a bouncing ball.

Exactly. Penalty all day long, doesnt matter that he didnt go down.
