I can only think his (and the club's) insistence on playinget RVP is the barrier. I'd rather drop RVP, move rooney up and have Herrera in.

Edit: as to why Herrera is overlooked
 
We love to go down the right when all Valencia is capable of doing is trotting for 10 yards before passing back to our defence or towards the middle of the pitch. It makes defending against him so simple.
 
If we're literally incapable of passing it while being pressed, we might as well get Fellaini on and start hoofing it, why not.

A few signs of life the last couple of minutes, mind.

I don't think you can say that rvp, failcow or janjuaz are on any kind of playing form. So therefore it's pretty dangerous to play all 3 at the same time .

I guess LvG thought speed/technical ability is more important for this game, I think he'd have started if you had Carroll.

We're focused on building slowly through midfield, and Herrera is the best player we have for that, yet he never plays.
 
Lvg has no tactical clue m this formation and team selection is too unbalanced. We are playing long ball and the closest we have come to winning a header was rvp elbowing someone in the face?!
