Didn't really watch him for Southampton so can't comment on whether it seemed smart or not, obviously just watching him at Liverpool it seems it wasn't.

Lambert, meh, cost **** all and in reality shouldn't have been needed, obviously Mario was bought because we failed at getting any one else and I imagine it was 2 players since we couldn't get rid of Borini.

Markovic should come good, watched a bit of him and only heard good things from Benfica fans although he did start slow apparently.

Disagree, he isn't retarded and he can control his feet with his brain.
 
We've basically got an entire team that appears to be completely incompatible with each other at the moment and the attack actually look worse than the defence do :(

Gerrard - Not a DM and never will be but he did make a very good quarterback last season with players making runs for him to pick out. Without those runners he doesn't offer very much at all.

Henderson - Babysitter for Gerrard.

Coutinho - Needs someone ahead of him to make runs or create space for him to run in to but it isn't happening enough.

Sterling - He is not a one man team. Needs space and movement to play his best football.

Mario - As the sole striker upfront he needs to be making runs for the likes of Gerrard and Coutinho to pick out and space for the likes of Coutinho and Sterling to run in to. Rodgers either needs to play him with a partner or dump him.

Lack of movement and pace are the biggest concerns at the moment but the formation and team being played isn't helping matters at all. Rodgers looks like he's run out of ideas unfortunately but if her persists with 4-2-3-1 he needs to drop Gerrard or Mario.
 
I'm not sure the team is that compatible but I think most importantly is the players don't suit the system Rodgers has pushed since he joined Liverpool. Rather than adjusting the system to best take advantage of his players he's just continuing with tactics that doesn't suit the squad. The completely ridiculous situation where he refuses to bring in a defensive coach and they get worse defensively by the game is well, that is Wenger levels of stubborn there.

Sticking with what you know when it's failing is just showing he's not adaptable, limited, learned a single system from someone but isn't actually a good manager. The best managers change system, change tactics and play the opposition. A lot of managers have one system and it might work at certain clubs with a specific player line up but will fail drastically elsewhere. The best managers will adapt, Rodgers has shown zero sign of doing so and the stubborn streak in refusing to ask for help to fix the defence is just retarded.
 
Defence isn't Valencias strength. No ****. He has no strengths. He slows / breaks down our attacks and is rubbish at the back. I hate him I hate him I hate him!
 
Whats the matter with Falcao? I thought he was going to be fit for this weekend?
 
One of our problems at the moment is that Rooney and RvP and in **** form and LvG insists on playing one or both of them all the time.
