Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8 - 11th December 2012]

City had the better players, United had the better team was a fair assessment IMO.

I doubt any would argue with that tbh I mean Balotelli is obviously a lot better player than Welbeck but he'd of never won the ball back like the latter did with our winner.

First team to have won at City in the league for 2 years then, not bad when we've also won at Anfield and Stamford Bridge this season

Balotelli is under rated, he has gone and won the ball back before, plenty of times, and he wasn't terrible today, just before he was subbed he won a long ball header, and Silva just stood still 25 yards away when he could have moved into the space and likely got the loose ball that Balotelli got from fighting for the header, but Silva just stood still. Later on he did the same, Tevez got the loose ball across the box, Silva was stood waiting edge of box for no reason rather than busting his ass to get in the middle. Balotelli did quite well all game, and Silva/Nasri did exactly nothing to support him.

Utd won, but the second Tevez came on they were significantly the better team with much of the team clicking into place, his work rate all over the pitch making up for Silva/Nasri being little ******* and Aguero just being rubbish.

This was once more a game of Mancini getting it wrong in a big game. Tevez + Aguero starting is mostly a win for City, and Balotelli has been in awful form this season, Tevez has been in the best form of any City player, and he drops the wrong player... again. I forget which game Aguero came back from fitness for, Chelsea, Pool, Europe, I really can't recall, big game, Aguero injured and clearly not fit and he dropped Tevez in form for the wrong player who looked terrible in that game. If he'd started Tevez, I could easily see City having won that game.

Mancini is a idiot basically. Utd did well when they had the ball, but they were painfully easily run out of the game in the first 15 mins and most of the second half. Carrick/Cleverley couldn't impose themselves at all, Valencia did incredibly little, RVP got very very little of the ball but scored and was unlucky to not have more, Young was good and very poor decision.

Utd deserved the win the way that game played out, but it will look to most people like Tevez makes that team great, and the plonker in charge who seems to get most of his big decisions wrong, got another one that cost them more points.

thanks spurs.

conceding late AGAIN.

It would have been awesome to hold on but we were really awful in that match. Everton deserved winners.

We really need some actual talent come Jan. Siggy and Dempsey are so unreliable. Thud is 10s of metres off the pace.

We definitely need to keep awesome Dawson because even if you dispute Gallas is creaking, caulker is really still learning his trade.

How was Young's disallowed goal a "very poor decision"? He was about 6 inches onside and whilst he was stood still Zalabeta was moving forward so it was even harder to see.

Agree with Tevez not starting, he didn't start a week or two ago as well and it just makes no sense as to why, I think he's their best overall striker and yet they play Dzeko and Balotelli ahead of him? Mancini bearing a grudge still rather than trying to win games...?

Young was clearly not offside, so benefit should have gone with the attacker.

Goal should have stood

"Clearly not offside" is such a misleading description for one that close. It was the wrong decision but it was not an easy one by any stretch of the imagination...

He was a good yard onside though, I thought it was a very bad decision.

Actually, looking at pictures it appears to be a leg playing him onside (due to how Zabaleta is standing), so I guess it could have been awkward for the linesman.

From where the linesman was Young would have been blocking Zabaleta (and like Robbo said it was only his trailing leg playing Young onside), easy one to get wrong.

Great weekend, most comprehensive 1-0 I have seen in ages, took Reading over 40 mins to have a proper chance and even then it wasn't all that good. Punch had a goal disallowed for Ferichi pushing over our CB which was annoying but 6 points clear of them (especially after a couple of "champions" chants and a round of "104" which are both terminally depressing to sing about) is the perfect place to be right now, plus it was nice to get over their smash and grab last season.

Won £60 on sundays games too :)

Young was clearly not offside, so benefit should have gone with the attacker.

Lines men have been getting this categorically wrong for us all season, so far we have had 3 clear goes disallowed for "offside" or "a push on the keeper" neither of which has existed.

Standard of refereeing in the premier league is woeful as they are all just fat and old, no one has the energy to make the correct calls...

thanks spurs.

conceding late AGAIN.

urgh 14 points dropped from conceding in last 15 mins of matches this season.

Kaboul and Vert central defenders. BAE and Walker full backs. Sandro and Dembele deep lyers. Then we need someone good to sit behind to Defoe or Ade. Parker to come on and shore things up as required.

.

that's unacceptable in all honesty.

i like caulker but that's twice now he hasn't let lloris collect and we've been punished for it.

gallas organises well but is not alert enough. vert can't cut it at lb. i would bring naughton in and get vert back to where he belongs.

huddlestone should be sold. i''m pretty sure we often concede when he is bought on.

goodison is a tough place to go these days and our goal sounded lucky and i'd have been happy with a draw but to lose so late is a wounder.

kaboul, parker, BAE still to return and if we get moutinho or willan, maybe both, we'll be a force. still need another striker imo too.

I don't remember arsenal ever not getting pens when pires was doing his high dives, or man u when fake ronaldo was diving left, right and center. Hell corzola just got the worst (or best?) dive of the season award.

I find it amusing that ever since the media went off the deep end (fnaar fnarr) with the evil Suarez and his diving we've had 5 or so people booked for diving, and god knows how many pens given for diving. We now have the media coming out trying to justify other players diving with "well, he doesn't want to get injured becuase he is running so fast" or "he knows he is going to get hit so is going to ground anyway" rubbish.

And people wonder why we Liverpool fans think the media etc have an agenda.
