Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 12th December 2011]

*pats head*

At the end of the day it was Clattenberg that cost us the match, we played well before the sending off and would have held out i think even with 10 men if Clattenberg wasn't hell bent on doing one better than Atwell.

Shows how far we have come when Chelsea fans celebrate like the PL has just landed after they get a narrow victory against a 10 man team and were very lucky to do so.

not that far. 600m spent in 2-3 seasons and bam instant success. while most clubs work there socks off build and establish there club is a power horse.

Then you really have no idea what the FFPR are going to do if you like them so much. Then again you are an Arsenal fan, so it will stop more horrible clubs like City coming and threatening you.

Honestly why despite everyone's best efforts to be civil (and I'm well impressed with some of you :p) does this place still have such idiots in it?

why are City fans being ****s about the other team celebrating? Chelsea have had a tough time and won a close match against the team who are first and the best team in the league. Get over yourselves.

I don't think there's anything wrong with what City have done, fans of any team would be delighted if they were owned by multi-billionaires like City are. Having said that, I do think the stadium sponsorship deal was a bit dodgy but there you go. For all the money that City have spent, they have bought pretty well. Yes there have been mistakes and exceptions to that, Robinho was a waste of money and Tevez has turned out to be a lot of trouble, but any team would be happy to have the majority of their squad. I think they've bought better than Chelsea have under Abramovich, and arguably than Liverpool have under Henry.

Your post doesnt answer the post you quoted me? i said how it took city 2-3 seasons plus 600m to get where they are while most clubs takes much much longer

It takes longer because they didn't spend/have the money. Is it really that hard to work out?

Should we have only spent 10m to keep in line with everyone else so we dont upset people.

Seriously as others have said if you have owners like ours that come in and want to buy should everyone have turned around and go no we dont want Dzeko because Arsenal only bought Chamakh this year and its unfair.

If you throw as much money about as City you're bound to be right accidentally :p I reckon Sheikh loads up FM for half an hour, makes a wish list and faxes it to Mancini.

No but does it make it right? Why not some billionaire buy Wigan and turn them into a top team?

Dont you see how its ruining football?

Oh give it a rest, it isn't right because everyone is so used to the same 4 teams dominating the leagues picking all the best players and spending the money.

I don't, if anything its creating a better league imo.

We spend so Liverpool have to spend to not drop out, Spurs spend so they can get involved, utd go and buy some possible top players like Jones, arsenal well. If we hadn't have spent it would be the same top 4 every year until someone like Sheikh did come in and buy a club.

it certainly seems like that at times but it's good for the prem imo even though it does seem a bit of a monopoly at times. i actually quite like mancini, he's quite easy going and he doesn't have to keep hart at number 1 (sure there's better options out there, i don't actually think he's all that) but he does and it does england good knowing that our national keeper is at top level. he has also worked wonders with balotelli who i also would rather be in the premiership than not. last year i did find the training ground busts ups funny but he seems to have pulled things togethor and wont take much **** like some managers probably would. £150k fine for balotelli for breaking a curfew! ouch. does anyone know where the fines go, charity or community etc?

All go directly to City in the Community, the club charity for aiding and rebuilding the impoverished areas of Manchester :)

Edit: I should say at the rate he's gone, and aside from the school he helped pay for in the Sudan, Balotelli has probably paid for a school to be built in Manchester now too :D

exactly. i'm sure the commentator tonight said that chelsea had the same points before tonights match as they did this time last season and were topping it. zzzzzz oh look, another chelsea and united battle for the title. the league needed a shake up and it's certainly got it. a lot of people dislike city and their financial clout, i'm not a massive fan of it either but the league needs competition and keeping other clubs on their toes!

Cracking game tonight, City could have easily been out of sight during that first 20 minutes but in the end they're lucking they had 10 men on the pitch when Kompany and Toure could have easily been sent off as well.

Bar some bad officiating against Newcastle we'd be joint top now, hoping an in form Arsenal can take further points off City at the weekend albeit that may be asking a bit too much.

Like I said prior to the Liverpool game City's fixture list had been kind and the big games they did win were under some very fortunate circumstances they've now played Liverpool and probably deserved a defeat and played Chelsea and been beaten.

difference is Utd (for certain) have always bought within the clubs own financial means - ie never had to end the year announcing a £200m loss (or there abouts)

without any bias thats a HUGE difference in anyone's book (without considering the £130m loss announced last financial year)

Admittedly Chelsea were seemingly lucky Mierieles (sp?) wasnt sent off, but Yaya was a little lucky with some off the ball incidents it seems as well

Have to say I have no idea how City lost tonight's game , should have been 3-0 up inside 25 minutes or so , but going to bed VERY happy Chelsea fluked 3 points (good luck to Arsenal at the weekend, but I will be even more amazed - even with RVP's current form - if tehy even manage a point)
