Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 13th April 2016]

As crazy as this season has been , I can see a predictably boring finish to it now.

I can't. I can see Spurs beating Stoke this coming weekend and Leicester dropping points, giving Spurs a bit of hope.

Ultimately I think Leicester will hold on but I can see it being fairly tight in the end.

Oh I have no idea how it's going to finish. Leicester have 4 tough games. Spurs have a couple but should definitely pick up more points over the final 5. 7 points more though..? I really don't know.

C'mon Leicester ;)

Also, LVG. **** off.

How is lvg still in a job?

When he says we played good...i mean how many chances did we create that did not come from martial running past 4 players?

It was a steady performance with nothing up front till the end of the 20th minute. Then it was panic and desperation.

This season must be the poorest Man U team I have ever seen. Let's be honest with £300 million spent you would expect a good solid team built up. But tbh the team we got ain't that much better than the one Moyes took over. Letting De Maria was mental. Look how well he doing atm when he gets played in the right position.

Been frustrating how poor Man U development is going.

What do you class as di marias best position/role?

It helps that he has two big targets to aim for in ibra and cavani who both have proven pedigree.

I'll give you about 1 million to 1 that they finish 4th and don't get champions league.

4th isn't GUARENTEED champions league. Again, why people keep saying it is I really don't know. You still have to qualify into the competition when finishing 4th and there can be some tough teams in that part of the comp.

They are of course likely to get top 3 but still they aren't there yet.

Actually you're being a bit pedantic about it. When people say guaranteed of champions league football, they are simply referring to being in the process. Qualification required or not, it is still champions league football. Teams not playing in the champions league are not required to take part in it.

It's not pedantic at all. Champions league football is the group stages. If you go out at the qualifying stage you haven't played in the champions league because you didn't qualify for it. To be guaranteed champions league football then you finish in the top three.

If Man City win the Champions League and Liverpool win the Europa League, only the top 3 in the league will go into the Champions League. It's still mathematically possible for Leicester to miss out on even the Champions League qualifiers.

It isn't, only three teams can get above Leicester, Arsenal, Spurs and City. West Ham and Utd can't beat Leicester this year. If Leicester are 4th then City have to be above them. Leicester are guaranteed entry into the champs league qualifiers.

Honestly I'll be very surprised if they drop out of the top 2 not just because they don't look like losing multiple games but because City and Arsenal are a joke. City do have Nasri and KDB back but they lost to Utd, after drawing to Norwich, after beating Villa, after a three loss streak against Leicester, Spurs and Pool. They've since managed to beat the mighty Bournemouth and West brom, the later still only 2-1 and at home. If City win 4 out of their 6 remaining games I'd be surprised.

City have Chelsea, Stoke, Southampton, Arsenal and Swansea(suddenly in decent form) to play yet and these are the types of games City have lost all year even when KDB was available. Also that City vs Arsenal game makes it even more difficult for them to end up 4th.

As it stands Leicester are on 72 points, Arsenal can get max 77, City max 75... but crucially both of them can't get those points because they have to play each other. Arsenal win and City can't break Leicester's 72, City win and Arsenal can't break 74 points. Basically 3 more points and one of City or Arsenal can't get by Leicester. In reality with the way City and Arsenal are playing I wouldn't be surprised if neither even reached the current 72 points Leicester have. Though Arsenal tend to go on the kind of run that has idiots asking what could have been had they just had that form earlier.... except that is precisely why Arsenal have that kind of form, because the pressure is off. Had they done that earlier they would have screwed up the end of the season, it's how we roll.

I would genuinely be shocked at this point of Leicester don't finish a minimum of second. I'm not sure people realise just how close Leicester already are to the max points Arsenal/City can get.

Let's be honest, Leicester have only lost to two teams all season, so I doubt much is going to change in the last few games.
City will focus heavily on the Champs league and they have a decent shot of getting through PSG.
I bet it pretty stays as is, the top 4.

Conor, that's why you sit on the bench for 80 minutes every week. You're ****.

Adebayor isn't much better.

It's a bit mad to think Everton have just reached 40 points.

Pellegrini to Everton in the summer? I'd certainly be trying to wangle him over to Goodison. He'd have a good squad to work with.
