Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 13th April 2016]

As a Spurs fan I think Leicester have got it in the bag, I just hope they haven't won it before the final games, will be much more interesting if we still have a shot.

Questioning your assertions makes me a Leicester fan? I'm neutral on this matter ;).

I'm sure most/all neutrals are gunning for Leicester. Myself included :) Will be amazing if it happens. Why? Because it shows that money isn't everything. The prem is one of the richest leagues (the richest?) now, but it's going downhill, and thus it's nice to see a (relatively) inexpensive team show the big boys up.

Increasingly the prem is filled with over-paid mercenary players with no heart, City et al (but by no means only them!). And indirectly we all pay for that with BT and Sky prices going up all the damn time.

'Bout time they introduced wage caps to the prem, I think. Otherwise it's going to get ridiculously out of control (if it isn't already).

And... that rant is something to do with why I want Leicester to win, anyhow :p

Leicester have a much tougher run in than Spurs. Just ran through a predictor and I had Spurs winning the league by a point... surely not

I think I was harsh on Leicester with some of the results, it goes to show though that even now, I'm still putting them down even though I'd love to see them win it!

Leicester has 3 home matches, 2 away.

Spurs has 2 home and 3 away.

Leicester could win it in the next 2 games if they win them both (home games) and Spurs stumbles. It may not come to needing all 5 remaining games.

If Leicester make it should Ranieri retire? Think it is fair to say they won't be able to repeat this and it would be great to retire on such a high.

I honestly wouldn't have that much certainty they will finish in the top half next year, especially with CL football for a few games and then the Euro B cup.

The man will be a legend though. This will become the new England of 66 which we have to hear about so often we all get sick of it :D

I don't think anyone will get bored of hearing the story when utd, city, arsenal and spurs were all made to look like fools and Liverpool were nobody.

"Yes, 3-0 is a big negative result but the way that we have played until the first goal was good."

Phew, I started to get worried until he calmed me down with that.

How is lvg still in a job?

When he says we played good...i mean how many chances did we create that did not come from martial running past 4 players?

It was a steady performance with nothing up front till the end of the 20th minute. Then it was panic and desperation.

If it happens it will go down as one of if not the greatest come back and success story in sports not just football.

Leicester has got to do it now, if anything to keep our romance about football alive that it's a team sport and money isn't everything.

both of which are likely. i can see leicester buckling when the heat is really on. they haven't looked as convincing as spurs recently.

Wishful thinking.

Everyone has been waiting for the bubble to burst since October last year. So you can all keep waiting ;)

If Chelsea, Man City or United were 7 points clear at this stage of the season, everyone would say the race for the title is over. But because it's just Leicester, it's not over by a long shot

One shot on target right? I feel for LvG but what is he smoking and how do I get some!?

That's because Leicester have changed these last few weeks.

On Sunday it was a scrappy nervous performance from them until Vardy scored. Still same can be said for Spurs though because neither of these teams have had the experience of this before so either could crumble when it comes down to the wire.

Agreed. They've lost 3 games all season. To expect them to lose 2-3 of the final 5 games is pure fantasy.

It really isn't. Their last 5 games are West Ham at home, Swansea at home, Utd away, Everton at home and Chelsea away.

4 of those games are very tricky games in their own right before you factor in the pressure of the title race. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they dropped points in 3 of those games which leaves the question as to whether Spurs can win their last 5? Looking at their fixtures, probably not - they've got a few tricky games themselves with Stoke & Chelsea away and Southampton at home plus the potential (although I suspect they'll be down by then) of a trip to Newcastle who could be fighting for their lives on the last day.

If they haven't won it by the final game though and Chelsea presumably can't get into the CL based on the final game of the season... who will be Chelsea's preferred winning team, Leicester or a London rival? I honestly think if it came down to it Chelsea wouldn't do a whole lot to help Spurs out.

Though I wouldn't bank on them not getting 3 wins out of the final 5 games anyway.
