Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

Why is that?

because a few weeks ago, when you sat 4th for a brief time, there was a sudden influx of newcastle fans giving it the big 'un. then, as if by magic, it receeded.

and lol @ all the barton haters (and rightly so) though i wonder if the same people who defended him in the norwich match would now still defend him?

Similar to all the Spurs fans who were here week in week out when you were "challenging" for the top 2 yet all them quickly dispeared when you turtled. It goes both ways and your sunny day supporters are just as bad as ours on here.

Both have our regulars and you can hardly disparage the other for the glory hunters, otherwise we can just sit and sling just as much mud at the Spurs fans as you could at us. Waste of time.

i concur. i know you are a regular poster btw.

£1mil, 18 year old striker that scores 15 a season ? Might as well just sack all of our front line if there's players like that around. Oh wait...

Look, Davies is getting on now but he's been a legend for us down the years and deserves every penny he gets out of us, imo. If half our players had the same passion and workrate as him, we probably wouldn't be where we are now.

The point is, you can't buy a few young strikers with him there, without buying strikers you'll NEVER find a top notch striker who gets you goals, if you buy strikers, you might end up with a gem. Sticking with someone that isn't working, is MUCH worse than looking for someone who might work.

You do know Bolton are 100mil in debt, and their owner can call the debt in whenever he wants and charges you 5%(he used to charge 10%) interest on the debt. Bolton have gone from something like 30mil debt to 100mil debt in 2-3 years, so no, you really can't in any way afford guys like Davies to do nothing while taking a big pay check.

Also Bolton's current income is majority coming from TV money, which will now be gone next year, yet with a not anywhere near small enough wage bill.

£85mil of the debt is with the owner and you pay pretty big interest to him, bank debt is increasing and is much worse, rip out the tv money and bolton are in serious doodoo next year, they basically need to cut down the 50+mil wage budget to, you know 15mil or something, maybe less, though they've needed to drop the wage bill by 20-25mil for the past few years anyway.

THe Barton stuff is brilliant, I remember saying he shouldn't be allowed to play in the league and was basically a criminal and will continue to assault people and I think quite a lot of people in there(though I forget who) kept chiming in with things like

"but he's much better, he hasn't done anything bad in the league for ages(apart from punch Pederson), he's not the same guy anymore, he posts intelligent QUOTES on twitter and is clearly an intelligent guy".

it was painful to read then, its painful to read the reverse happening now, its laughable, every single season he does truly disgraceful things, ok he hasn't spat at the crowd like Diouf, but he punches/kicks players every single season, and he has done it both on the training ground, and in the streets as well, he's a thug, a criminal and has gotten away with multiple assaults that any other "normal" person commiting on the streets would be doing a long long jail term for by now.

Hell he was in jail on one assault and got off the viciously beating a team mate while he was unconcious after an unprovoked attack for no apparent reason, and didn't get punished for stubbing a cigar in IIRC, a youth team players eye.

Anyone that has EVER defended his actions should be ashamed of themselves, and I stand by the fact that he frankly should be in jail for just one of the multiple disgraceful things he's done OFF the field, throw in a few more years for the punches and kicks on the field for good measure.

The fact that, he's a millionaire, got off with incredibly light sentences frankly sickens me.

McLeish seemed to imply on MOTD that funds are there in the summer and improvements will be made.... Villa got very lucky over these last couple of weeks though just getting those 2 points that basically saved you

And he won't be using said funds because he's GONE :D:D

Why would anyone want the Villa job?

They have an average (at best) squad, an owner who doesn't want to spend money and despite all this fans who expect to finish top 8 every year and challenge for a cup. If I was Lambert I would stay at a Norwich side who are building up rather than a Villa side on the way down.

I honestly don't care, he was diabolical as a manager. Wonder who's next then, Lambert? Curbishley? Mclei.. oh, wait

Hughton could be a good fit. Stevie Bruce is looking for a job as well and he certainly got the best out of Bent at Sunderland

Why would they want Hughton (and why would he take the job) after they treated Mac like a dog for managing at the Blues.

It wasn't about Mcleish managing the blues that got the Villa fans ****** off. It was the absolute diabolical football & tactics he deployed, Even if he didn't manage Birmingham before he came to Villa he still would have got the same stick for being a rubbish manager!

Anyway, No to Bruce, No to Houghton (although he's not a bad choice), Still unsure about Lambert this season was his first in the PL he did well but can he carry it on. Curbs I doubt & Martinez I doubt also.

Running low on choices I dunno who I'd have :p

Out of those though Lambert or Martinez.

Because rather than having a history of relegating sides Hughton's got a history of promoting sides and generally doing a good job with them (okay so Birmingham have just missed out but he did a great job at Newcastle which I'm sure you'd agree)
