Greta Thunberg

Again the public is the driving force there, they want low prices, not highly energy efficient. We come back to market forces again. The problem isn't companies or politicians, it's the general public. Until people actually witness the consequences of climate change nothing will change.

This is exactly why Greta Thunberg is important IMO.[/QUOTE]

The discussion isn't even about climate change, it's about a 16 year old girl who people won't remember in a month, max. Public opinion will change when the impact of climate change is actually felt by people and it affects their way of life.

No, I do not know that. It's for you to prove your case, not me. So what evidence do you have to substantiate your claim? None. Right. So stop wasting everyone's time pretending you do.

Excuses, excuses.

I could show you evidence but you will just call it fake news and won't believe it anyway. What's the point, there is always an excuse to justify your already made up mind.

By which time it will be far too late.

I don't disagree, but again, it's like telling me the sky is blue. It's not really helpful to point out problems, or in fact scream about them at the UN, without bringing pragmatic implementable solutions.

She is just bringing it to everyones attention and she has done a good job at that so far, if the next gen of kids are inspired to take better care of the environment than we have previously it can only be a good thing. People dont seem to want to listen to the scientists so maybe a screaming kid will have better luck of getting governments across the world to take it more seriously.

The same government and scientists that said smoking was good for you.
The same scientists and governments that allow poisons on the acceptable foods list, damaging chemicals in kids drinks.
No scientists that are vetted through the big media and government should be trusted with our future, they have their own agenda

Public opinion doesn't need to change, most people already know that climate change is a thread and want to use more clean energy. Much of the world is moving in that direction, the major obstacle right now is simply cost. You cannot expect us to bankrupt ourselves just to reduce the effects of climate change by 0.5%. That is not going to happen.

But as technology moves forwards, costs come down and it all becomes far more viable.

The same governments that are and have always been in the pockets of big business?

Which entities do you think give the governments the majority of their money for public spending? There's not some large conspiracy, government and big business need to work together because it benefits them both, as well as the general public. If governments pass laws that damage big businesses, that in turn means less tax revenue, less jobs, and a worse economy.

Eh no, unless ofcourse you believe people live forever, this cannot logically ever be true. These aren't the "same scientists" nor the "same governments".

You're doing the typical i hate all scientists guff because a few of them are illegitimate and biased, they all must be, therefore whatever they say is automatically incorrect, yet you continue to post on the internet... created by scientists.

The banks, who's owners, own the biggest media companies

You think when they die their plans and paper work get shredded and they start fresh, that's completely nonsensical

Show me something that isn't an opinion piece by some left-wing journalist, show me something objective and factual and by all means I'll consider it.

Scientific journal on global warming?

you actually need help to find that?

What I said about your mind been made up...you already have. This isn't a left or right wing issue, not sure why you are bringing politics into this, this is a science and world climate issue. Your mind has already been made up, you have taken your stance on the right and everything else you dislike you label as left and that's that.
