Grid 2

I agree but at the same time it's hard to expect people to be considerate in a competitive game - the aim is to win, using the tools you're given... If the developer has allowed ramming etc. to be such an effective tactic then of course the majority are going to exploit it. Even if you believe you "don't want to win that way" then you're just going to lose, so the "can't beat 'em join 'em" mentality rules... Just look at the hoards of players in Battlefield or COD who will flock to any slightly unbalanced weapon known to offer an advantage - followed by all the other players who are sick of getting destroyed by them...

So true, and so ****ing irritating, i'm a fan of using underused or underpowered items/tactics and trying to do well with them as that to me is more fun than winning. Grid 2 that means not ramming, FPS games it's neigh on impossible due to the compressed skill gap, but i do try (normally by not playing them :D)

Perhaps its about time some rules were laid down. Obviously even in real F1 race or LeMans people trade paint but the rules state that enough spce must be allowed for the competitor to pass. In other words blocking is illegal.
About the warfare games, well that shows the mentality of someone whom knows no boundaries and cares for no one other than number one. Winning isn't everything, but winning fairly has certainly a better feel to it than at any cost.

If you start adding things like that it blurs the lines between sim and arcade, something a lot of people want but on the flip side a lot of people who bought G2 wouldn't want.

As for FPS games, the argument for using said gun or said attachment i hear a lot is "it's in the game, if you don't like it **** off" what's a fair argument, but if you acknowledge it's broken and unfair why still carry on using it, other than it's currently getting you kills and that's all you care about? :( I mean not to generalise but i find if you're playing in NA servers or with Germans it happens a lot more than if you're playing in local GB servers (happens regardless of server, just seems to be more fairplay when playing with brits)

Don't get me wrong, I still agree with you that games are more fun when people play them for fun + some friendly competition... I was just pointing out that for a lot of people that isn't how it is (and even aside from that you can't deny that winning is fun - or at least losing horribly is not much fun...) You can say "let's all just agree to drive as clean as possible", but for a lot of people the response to that will be "Okay sure, you first..." before they smash you into the first barrier they can - "Everyone else is doing it and I'm not about to let them win"

I don't want to de-rail the thread and turn it into a discussion of FPS weapons , so I'll just say I agree with this and leave it at that

the game is and was marketed to be a fast and furious style racer .

look when it came out same time as fast n furious 6 . similar tracks to the film. similar cars to film. similar kinda style to racing drifting big in ya face.

i get it i understand. what it is we need to understand ourselves which game is marketed for what. its a arcade racer meant for a bit of fun. its does that okay but not great.

But when racing online depends also on progrssion in the game where it shouldn't you are creating something self defeating. If all the achievements were able to be done offline then it may make the game more fun online because little or nothing depends on it. In the end it turns out to be a blend of the most mindless smash-up's going and have absolutely nothing to do with its title. Why not rename it Demolition Derby, because that is what it looks like online.

Shame the multiplayer servers got canned a couple of years ago, only the 360 ones are still active IIRC.

Grid1 multiplayer? I've read something online this week of Grid1 working with an app similar to Hamashi, cannot for the life of me recall the article or the app's name.

can you pass on the notes about fixing basic things first and stop working on dlc .

basic mic mute is why i wont even play this game at the moment. fixes like this which could be done in minutes will make people buy extra stuff but they cant play the game due to silly little bugs.

Mic mute has been fixed and is on its way in an upcoming patch FYI :smileyhappy:

the DLC is messed up last time i checked.

you can't host a session with DLC enabled unless everyone in your lobby has all of the DLC that the hoster has, which is normally never.

so the hoster normally has to turn DLC off.

/end DLC

This game is shockingly bad...

Just been playing it and its not a patch on Shift 2. The car physics are horrendous. I dunno if Shift 2 is classed as a 'sim' but Grid 2 is definately 'arcade'. Hell, its not even arcade, its comical, mario kart is batter than this.

Why so many people like it?

does anyone else have a lot of crashing issues with this game? display driver error (Nvidia) its happened to me on 3 or different driver revisions, currently on the laet one. All over games seem to play frin without any form of crashing.
