Grim Dawn - ARPG

Awesome. I loved that in TQ, when you'd spot a mob holding a rare. Such a unique idea that for some reason hasn't been used in any other ARPG (that I'm aware of).

Do they have a definite release? Would rather wait for full release than buying it whilst it's in beta still.

Honestly, the game is great as it stands right now. I think they are aiming for a full release around February next year. I would get it now if I were you as I think this will be the lowest price for quite some time.

Yet again I am addicted to this fantastic game. Leveling a Conjurer up to be a farming char' at the moment.

I would buy now No1newts, you may get it cheaper this way. But xaldub is right, it is set for a Feb release.

Level 13, playing Demolitionist on my way to the Burrich estate (probably got the spelling wrong) it is a pretty good game.

Cannot decide whether I prefer this or PoE as they are different from what I can see so far. Grim is far more similar to Titan than PoE, I think my only nitpick so far is it is not quite as graphically nice as I was hoping though I do like the atmosphere it puts forth.

Will keep playing, certianly worth £11 in the sale!

Mainly in the way you customize your character. There are lots and lots of things you can add to your equipment which add skills etc, the devotion system, augments, relics, these all make for a boat load of builds. Then there is the factions side of it, can't say too much about that ;). Secret areas are pretty good. Bounties are quite fun. Crating is not too bad and it's fun finding recipes and what not.

Probably nothing new or more over POE but at first I was like ok this is fun, but nothing new, but then the more I keep playing, I am noticing more things to do or ways to customize my char/build. Everything is just interesting and doesn't seem tacked on (imo of course) :)

Where does the depth come in?

It is pretty apparent in PoE but this just seems to be upgrading skills.

PoE is a trade game after level 60.
Grim Dawn you can play it and run around capturing loot your way.

Depth is a misnomer, ARPG should be, action not, need to trade for hours to have an item. The best in poe reach level 100 in 7 days in a new league.
whats the depth there?

Just bought this today. Can anyone tell me is there no intro or ingame speech ? I see a option for speech volume but just seem to get txt on the screen.

Thanks.

Getting the right set of spells to synergise with eachother, choosing the right devotion points and stat points. Plus farming end game is where the real fun comes in :)

PoE does have more depth when it comes to building you character with the huge stat tree and linking spells etc., but as mentioned above it eventually comes down to having to trade if you want to get further (generally).

There is no speech. They're just a small indie team. Not sure if they plan to add it, but I'd imagine it can be quite an expensive thing to have done.

Not necessarily. An ARPG should have depth and PoE has an awesome amount of it. My highest in PoE is 90 and haven't done any trading whatsoever. The character is capable of getting to 100, but I don't really want to invest all that time in getting there when realistically I don't get much out of it.

The depth in PoE comes in with linking of spells, the skill tree and so on.

Also I'm sure PoE has a far larger team and pretty big budget by now compared to Grim Dawn.

I love both games. Have spent hundreds in PoE and will do in Grim Dawn (unless they've messed up item farming somehow). Also loved Titan Quest which I also sunk hundreds of hours in to :)

Thanks for the tip re Titan Quest. Really enjoying it, nice graphical style (if a little outdated) and I like the setting and story. Not far in mind, only just killed the Centuar boss for the Spartans but good stuff!

If you have not got it already. Make sure you have the expansion Immortal Throne which expands story and more classes.

Also a good idea is to install titan vault if I recall correctly to store all the good stuff rather than use characters as mules or store up the share area.
