Grim Dawn - ARPG

If you have not got it already. Make sure you have the expansion Immortal Throne which expands story and more classes.

Also a good idea is to install titan vault if I recall correctly to store all the good stuff rather than use characters as mules or store up the share area.

Yup, TQVault is awesome! The guy is apparently updating it for Grim Dawn as well. I used to spend hours in that program sorting my rares etc. - it's so nice to have unlimited space.

There's also TQ Defiler which has a bunch of nice mods you can enable such as infinite stacking of potions (very useful considering some classes in TQ drink them constantly and they only stack to 30 IIRC), show all damage numbers and a few other useful ones.

I'm currently on act 3 of Grim Dawn I think it is, just after the second major town. Loving it so far! It seems really long though which in a way might put me off making multiple characters as after completing story mode once I do prefer boss runs/farming. I guess I'll soon learn the quickest route to take through to get the most exp/progress on a new character.

I wasn't really enjoying it then changed my class to the Nightblade and enjoying it s bit more now.

I'm not a huge fan, it just feels like a TQ Reskin and being honest I would rather play TQ as the story appeals more. When I compare it with other aRPG's out there right now I find Diablo a lot more polished and smooth experience, Marvel is more fun and action packed (and has the marvel tag) then I find PoE the best as it is the complex and challenging.

I don't really see any unique selling point for this game unless you played TQ to death and are happy with it essentially being rereleased under a new name.

I'm going to persevere for a bit and see if it picks up but at this rate I can see myself being back on Marvel/PoE sooner rather than later.

Still worth £11 mind!

It's a pity you're not enjoying it that much. Personally, I don't find it to be a reskin of TQ although I wouldn't complain if it was given how much I loved that game. Out of the ARPG's you've mentioned, PoE is the one I rank the lowest - horses for courses I guess. Haven't tried Marvel - might have to take a look ....

I can't stand PoE personally, never felt very fluid the times I tried it, feels clunky if that makes sense.

That being said, Grim Dawn isn't filling me with confidence either so far.

Oh yeah people like different things, plenty of choice out there for what suits you most :)

As I said I will persevere and see if it picks up as I'm only level 16 and still a lot to see and do.

Ouch, a crowdfunded game 10 people making grim dawn compared to billion dollar Blizzard with hundreds of people?
Then diablo 3 is crap as a game vs Grim dawn as they got it all wrong with D3 a long time ago and while its polished its super boring.
POE? its a trade game a pokemon and not an ARPG.

same as titan quest?
really?
feels totally different and whats new really, slay mob, gain loot have fun?
next game blizzard makes the mobs slays you and when they do your account is closed and you have to buy a new game, wouldnt that be a fun twist? :D

Someone is a bit too heavily invested though there is always one :D

Here's a hint, it's a discussion form where people share opinions, no need to get so uppity.

If you had also read my post you would notice I was not actually saying any of the games are superior (though I think PoE and Marvel are) I was actually comparing what each game offers to a potential player as its own USP to differentiate itself from the market and pointing out the fact I don't see what makes GD stand out it makes it any way unique.

Your last paragraph is senseless, feel free to edit it though and I will answer.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. It does feel very like TQ to me - the rule set at least, but as I didn't get to play that as much as I wanted this is no bad thing. It lacks the polish of D3, but there again everything else does. It feels more like PoE to me, but as I quite liked that game I'm happy with that as well.

All in all it's well worth the eleven quid I paid for it. I'll likely get a couple or three weeks out of it. If I get the feeling that it's a vibrant game with lots playing it I'll probably stick it out longer.

I cracked and bought it a few days back. Definitely agree with the TQ reskin comments, which is not necessarily a bad thing as I played a ton of TQ back in the day. The physics and combat feel identical as does the dual class system. Itemisation is also very similar. It's enjoyable enough but doubt it will have the longevity for me that D3 and to a lesser extent PoE have.

Will keep it playing to the endgame and see how much fun the item grind becomes but I suspect it's a < 100 hour game for me. Still massive value for money at £11!

For those who have played a bit, I found a place called "Depraved Cavern" or something in the first area, I'n level 16 the mobs in there are 21+, I'm guessing it is just one to book mark and come back to later when I level up as I can just about manage the mobs but the bosses just melt my face.

Yup, I know where you are. I stumbled across it at about the same level too, scrapped my way through slowly only to succumb to the end bosses. Definitely come back later ... Grim Dawn is full of side dungeons and things which are non-linear giving you an incentive to explore at a later time.

I went back at level 22 after killing the Warden, feeling like the bomb and killed 3 bosses of level 21/22 without any bother.

Step into the next room, 1 level 27 & 1 level 28 boss melted my face :D I'll be back!! :p

Changing to Nightblade has certianly increased my enjoyment, finished the Warden storyline and going to keep on playing and see how I get on.

Ha I'm on the exact same point as you. Those two bosses absolutely destroyed me lol. I'm going to go back when I'm level 27 or something and whoop their asses that they deserve!

Completed the game yesterday at level 40. I'll be enabling Veteran and doing some farming to get me in to Elite next :)

Just need to work out a good place to farm for my level. Warden runs are nice, but items are too low.

Steps of Torment or Bastion of Chaos. Both will scale with your level I believe. Had a really nice run in the Steps yesterday, so much fun.

I am on my 3rd char above 30 so far, while the others were good, this one is a Druid and I am really enjoying the playstyle/build (first ws ez mode pet build, second blademaster). Currently lvl 45 and not done the last boss yet as I been getting rep with factions and exploring. All on veteran :)

Want to get a HC going soon too but first need to get my Druid to max lvl and some Legendaries.. and finish off my Blademaster!! Am going to shelf the pet build char I think as it was bordering cheesing the game.

Love this game so much :D

Thoroughly enjoying it at the moment playing on Hardcore Veteran since start :D. Died once at lvl 21. But going strong now at lvl 31 with a bit more careful playing style as a conjurer.

I'm still going with this and enjoying it, still prefer PoE but the game has grown on me.

Up to the Steps of Torment at level 29, really like the play style of the Nightblade.

So I went back at level 30 to clear the place, they had upgraded to 36 & 37. What is the point in that, if they stand 2 bosses next to each other and always keep them outlevelling me by 6+ levels (an attack off both = dead me) I will never clear the place! Vexing to say the least.
