Growing Chillies

I really would like to know how to get them to refruit as well do as in how to pick or how to cut them properly to let them grow back. Same question for my cherry tom plant if its ok as well.

Btw anyone used baby bio before? Got it off my mother as she never used it when my bro gave it to her awhile back. Started using it for tom plant and the jals.

once you pick a chillie from the plant does it flower again or does it just grow another chillie or nothing?

It will flower again although not from the exact same point.

I've just cut back each of my Nagas to the stems (*heresy!*) the first one has stated to product foliage again.

I've also decided to focus entirely on getting a Naga :) So the Jalapenos have gone (still have a harvest in the freezer).

Should be interesting..

What happens if you cross-pollinate?

I have jalapeños and Hungarian hot waxes on the grow, could I create hybrid chillies?

Some chilli varieties will pollenate with anything. Others won't and I can't remember which are which but the majority will cross.

If you cross pollenate the chill from that generation will look like it's parent plant. The seeds from the crossed chilli will then be a hybrid plant and the chilli fruits would then be hybrids too.

Be cool if someone tried crossing a hot pepper with a bell pepper to get a hot bell pepper. :)

LOL id imagine you could and probably will try this?

Well ive been using baby bio for a wee bit now, just make sure you dont get it on the leaves or it burns them, I think its actualy helping but what id do is water one with and one without and see the differences and that will let you see the difference.

Im trying Miracle grow organic choice. Smells like treacle, mite have a lick lol

I hear bad things about miracle grow. Basically told not to use it tho cant recall exact reason sorry.

Hmm i may give the hot bell pepper a try if successful ill mass produce it and make a fortune cos u never can buy hot ones. :p

It certianly isnt doing any harm to the veg in my garden but then again it has rained a lot recently

they cant be too far off picking now

Right, my first 2 pot are sprouting up nicely now, and I was wondering how long the 60mm tall, 85mm diameter pots will be of sufficient size.

I can plant the pots (made of coconut husk) into larger pots, but I need to know what size I need to buy in the first place.

Well Disaster has struck.

I was swarmed by what seems hundered of white/green fly.

After taking advice from the forum I sprayed a bit of soapy water on them. This seemed to work a treat, until a week later, all the flowers have turned black and dropped. The plant is now turning black!!!

Back to the drawing board...

Gutted for you mate.

Tho iirc a mist of soapy water with a fine spray i think and not on them just above them so it drops down isn't it?

Will be posting some of my jalapeno plants and 1 i think scotch bonnet plant (was red and very wrinkly) on wednesday duno if im posting pics in this topic or the social group we have yet tho.

If it's turning black it's quite possible that one of the green/white fly carried something nasty to it.

Do you have any photos of the affected plant?

Normally you can tell because you'll find that they just stop growing. A large root mass will suck the pot dry quickly too.

I'm watering mines every second day and i put them into buckets,

From my understanding a plant will grow to a maximum size based on the root structure.

Mines seam to be fine so leaving them, chilli's have taken off the last few weeks, growing like made.
